I just meant he found a pic of a real Fuso to compare with MMC Hot Spot, but only used the cartoon model to compare with XTB Hot Spot rather than finding a real pic.

I'm more concerned about the toon image, and I'm hoping @Grifter Prime and @ibot aren't using this:

When they should be using this:

The proper toon color is the same sort of blue they used on Andras

I wonder if Ubisoft made this one official when they used it for Combiner Wars.

I dont know - I'm conflicted here. I usually default to the colour guides here...

2D/3D art - The most accurately coloured G1 animation models online!

Since they are based on original source material and/or painstaking research. And they have Hot Spot in the warmer/greener shade. But most screengrabs I can find have him close to the cooler sky blue, but then you've no idea what dodgy master/VHS tape, etc they may have come from.

I think I'll be fine as long as he isn't the dark turquoise/teal he appears to be in the prototype pics so far.

Yeah, I suppose so... I swear by D.M.'s stuff, although he's about to amend loads sue to getting a single source colour wheel, so it might change a little.

But yeah, in all the screen time pics, he's definitely the paler blue.

    Weird.

There are wheels hidden in the feet, yeah. But are you talking about the wheels on his lower legs? The ones that should be visible on the side and front of the lower legs according to the toon model (and G1 toy) but here appear to be covered by a panel on the sides and only sticking out the front?

If so I think that's due to the engineering - those wheels are attached to that side panel which turns inside out during transformation, so you are looking at the inside of the wheel (with it's attachment) on the outside of the leg (something similar to how FT Mirage looks, where his rear wheel has been flipped round so you see the inside of it with its connecting hub on the outside of his foot). Then there appears to be sculpting/colour app on that outside panel to give the appearance of the wheel being fully visible.

At least that's how I see it, but something just looks odd in that area of the prototype, like that panel has been messed with in photoshop, so it's hard to see what's going on.

i know this is just a painted test shot but a couple questions (if they haven't already been answered):
    1. Is the main front windshield and large windows completely opaque as in this sample or is it going to be a dark smoked translucent plastic?
    2. it looks like the wheels in his armpit area are painted blue? That can't be the intended deco, right?

yes, I meant the wheels on the legs. Sorry for the misunderstanding

    Wheel.JPG

remembering the first pic of Hot Spot prototype, the wheel wasn't covered. Looks much better and G1 accurate.

That early render has no transformation engineering incorporated, so that wheel could be uncovered as it should be (they must have had most/all the ideas at that stage to know that bot shape and detailing could actually be achieved, but it isn't modelled). It didn't seem to work out that way in detail engineering, and the wheel seems to be covered on the side.

He asked "is the combined mode going to be from this same truck", I answered "the whole fire truck is Hot Spot", thus there is no more of the truck to make up combined mode. It isn't like say Car Robots/RID2001 Optimus where the cab of the fire truck is the robot with the rest making a super (combined) mode.

For now we know alt mode has 6 wheels, but 8 have been seen in bot mode, so two extra fake wheels on his upper arms. It is designed with 2 wheels at the front and 4 at the back of the truck, but needs 4 on the upper body (from the front) and 2 on the lower body (from the back). I don't believe there is anything else (since so little of the fire truck shows in bot mode anyway).

I expect he never even considered the idea of using a different real truck, he may not even know that the end result toon model is similar to a different real truck. Used the Fuso because that is what Hot Spot is "supposed to be", and used the cartoon model because obviously MP is mostly toon based at this point.

Thanks for the reply! Any chance you can disclose what it will turn into? (Apart from the combiner skeleton)

The episode “The Ultimate Weapon” also showed Hot Spot’s transformation being opposite the toy to reconcile the different wheel placement between the toy and cartoon fire trucks. This was probably a part of the episode’s settei.

Same thought here. Their first release aka streetwise was just okay at the best, then groove being better in alt mode, first aid is just perfect on the alt mode size and bot proportion/height, and finally we have this awesome looking hot spot.
Blade may actually can fly by itself at this rate.

ps: just realize that xtb has brought four out of five to physical form already.

Only xtb set can recreate this scene closely enough to the show, as their first aid is tall enough to reduce the height difference between these two.
