if it's x20 i'm out... x10 i more-or-less expected. I'm hoping they section him out into sub-parts to take some of the sting out... but then we all know there will be TTM Exclusive Box Set for the whole enchilada, plus extra for the guac.

    ----
I really wish they'd consider actually doing webisodes or something... they obviously keep tapping artists/studios and making wonderful use of the CAD design files.

*** I'll try to keep my posts for the evening wrangled here as the night progresses for me***
You know... it wasn't until this video that it really hit me over the head... I think one reason the new VFS frames really spark my attention is that they're really the first more 'traditional' mech frame that we've gotten. Sure the others were power suits... but then all the others are effectively combined vehicles formed into mecha. Maybe that's also why i was low-key really tuned into the VERS-Movers/Risers they felt like more traditional 'mechs' instead of 'suits'.

the Tactical Gamma (VFS) also don't feel quite as tied down with the Bullet Cores like Convoy (although they're obviously all interchangeable). I'm still hoping there might be a way to squeeze out some kind of 'storage mode' from the new VFS suits... but so far looking at how everyone bends and moves around the

is as close as we get.

Really good insights. I think that's why I'm on board for the tactical movers. This is looking to be what I'd been hoping they'd do for the Cosmo Marines since the beginning.

I agree with tactical hopefully being the new home of the Cosmo Marines. Time will tell if we see desert/urban camo for all these releases. Given that they knocked out roughly 3 new paint schemes for the VERS series in two (?) years... I'm sure we'll all be kicking ourselves for squading up with the first releases of these...

But maybe history will repeat itself and we'll hold out for something... only to wish we'd gotten 12 Gammas lol.

I knew the heads on the tanks reminded me of something! [IMG]
(MBR-04-Mk.VI Destroid Tomahawk | Macross Wiki | Fandom)

I also know that the Macross/Battletech license was a mess in the 80s...

Other than the fact the colors wouldn't match... between the new bullet/raid core that the tank VFS should have... and the weapon parts in DA-88 (Powered Greater++) you could get pretty close actually.

    ------

On a side note- I'll chock it up to delays in shipping in the US (I still haven't gotten mine)... but I feel like our collective gushing over the Waruder Ripper went really quick?

I can’t see them making a Diaclone set with a list price of over $1,200 (20x the original price, converted to USD), unless they split it into three or four sets.

With Drago/Ghoul head as precedent, I could see them splitting a GRB into two sets priced similarly (maybe three at most, or two large sets and some smaller add-on sets). Based on what the original GRB did and imagining what a new version would have, I could see it as comparable to a mix of Big Powered and Battle Convoy V-Max. Not in appearance or parts reuse, but considering there would likely be a command center with perhaps the space of a single Pod Grander (maybe a bit smaller, and hopefully in two levels with some kind of awesome elevator feature), along with several vehicle components, some Bullet Cores, and some weaponry. I could see all of that sold either as one big set priced around $400-500 or two sets of up to about $300-$400 each. I don't think they'd make GRB's robot mode much bigger than the newest Gigantor for stability reasons, though I could see it being a head or two taller.

I agree that if it tops $400 USD it will probably be split into sets... with just the tactical movers currently slated for May and June, I wouldn't be surprised if we have news over the next couple months. We'll have to wait and see!

Either way, I'm sure it will come out just as I "finish" my display so I have to do it all over to rework everything around Robo Base...:)

Don't forget, the Tactical Movers are just the latest new molds for this year. We also have the new Dianauts (end of this month), Powered Greater and its add-on (March), and the Motocruiser/Raidbullet (also May). Plus a good number of repaints/retools coming too. It's going to be a great year for Diaclone!

It definitely will be exciting to see what the second half of the year brings! I wonder if they'll finish off all four Tactical Mover sets this year or save the other two for next year.

For larger sets this year, I could see a possible Dia-Battles <Verse Caliber>, Gats Blocker (I'd love to see that done with bullet cores similar to what Big Powered GV <Verse Caliber> has, or Great Robot Base. I'd love to see an updated Battle Buffalo too, though I'm not sure what they could do to make it Vers compatible. Surprise me, TakaraTomy! :D

Haha! Right? Get to work on that display, dude, so we can get the next big reveal!! :)

I could see it being Titan Class size like Fort Max or Metroplex. In fact I could see a more detailed Metroplex as a base framework- especially the legs. I've linked the instagram account before, and at some point I'll take some screen captures (it's likely oversold me on an idea that won't come to fruition- but we'll see).

But I could see each leg being a solo component and thing kind two-part torso set, with hands/forearms and the head being a final (slightly cheaper set). Kind of like a BP on steroids. I could see each leg clocking in around $80-110 depending on the bells and whistles the torso being $120, then the last pack being a catch-all $100 maybe with extra guns and things.

Yeah, we're gonna get pretty slammed right through May- especially if shipping woes slack here in the US and we get all our end of 2021 backlog with all the new stuff for 2022. Isn't there a big toy fair in JP coming up in February March (or am I thinking of the US Toy shows)?

I could see the VERS Buffalo taking more notes from the OG one... instead of the double (triple-with the head) cockpits, maybe just a central core for the VERS/Bullet? I imagine that's how VERS-Dia Battles will work.

The more I look at those pictures again... I'm trying to figure out where the hitch the rover is sitting on comes from... I swear I don't remember Destroyer having one there. I know there's one on the back of the rover... but I didn't think there was one on the torso.

There is one right behind where the rover attaches, and the rover is just sitting loosely on it. This setup is good for pictures but awful for play.

Going through Twitter this morning and seeing that people in Japan are able to get their vmover replaced in 5 months. Support claims the grey command vehicle is “the intended specification.”

Guess I’ll just be sanding mine down. I haven’t seen any tweets about an official fix for the wobbly shoulder on the powered-01.

I'm curious if the DA-77 Powered Suits 202X are going to be a one-off. I'm ambivalent. On the one hand, I love them and would adore more ways to use them, even if it's just some accessories that give me ideas about how they'd integrate into a squad of regular powered suits and maneuver suits. On the other hand, it's such a bummer that they really can't be used with existing mechs the way PS, MS, and Trivers can.

Have I missed anything, or is the marines version all we've heard about their future?

Nope, you haven't missed anything as faar as I know and your assessment of the interactivity of the DA-77 Powered "retro" Suits is dead on so far.

I canceled my preorders of the DA-77 and DA-84 sets once the "Tactical Mover" was announced. Never really felt that the "retro" powered suits really fit the play pattern of the rest of the line and I much prefer the "Maneuver Suit" design with the raid/storage chambers. I skipped over all the V-Mover suits as well, though there are a few that I do think are pretty cool.

The "Tactical Mover" mechs are pretty much exactly what I've been waiting for since the line started. Currently I have 3 of each on order and when the "tank" version is ready, I'll get 3 of those as well. Between all the 3mm ports, the compact "machine?" mode and the swappable bullet cores, I think this is a good balance of paly pattern for the size. The "retro" suits are cool, but they just kinda sit there. Maybe if they did one in a sort of construction yellow with big loader claws... I digress.

is there a reason the bullet core things da80 comes with dont seem to fit convoy?

The current best guess we have is that the tolerances are just a bit off, my guess was that the longer cores from DA-80 get a little thicker toward the front causing them to be overly tight in Convoy. Just a guess though since I don't own either figure, but I have heard that they fit the front core slot fine so I figure it's that.

I like these too, although I think they overlap with the JoyToy and Acid Rain aesthetic, which is a little too dark for me. There's something charming about the borderline goofiness of Diaclone, and the fact that they're bright and interchangeable, essentially the ideal of what I wanted to army-build as a kid (when my dream was a room-sized battlefield of Megaforce armies)

I'd also be sad if the Diaclone reboot line splintered into different sublines at the expense of maintaining the core line. Although I do wonder if the trivers stuff is reaching the end of its development potential.
