"Citanes" is nothing. But "Gitanes" is. And with the markings and logo design being otherwise unchanged, arguments could be made.

You're acting like it's a basic precedence matter, but it's not. It's a matter of who sends what lawyers after whom.

 

You know how you avoid possible copyright issues? By not putting it on the item, and just buying the labels to put them on yourself. Problem solved.

What race cars race without a livery or sponsors? This is coming from an ex-racer… Not trying to be difficult, but I’m not following the logic if you are a race car enthusiast. If you are an enthusiast of high performance street cars, I totally get it. That said, they didn’t make the 935 as a street car.

 

Definitely tempted by this one, regardless of who is making him, but I really hope they fix whatever caused the paint issue on his thigh before they begin full production

 

It looks like some paint or the plastic on the hip skirt rubbed off on the thigh. If you look close you can see how uneven the finish is on his pelvis, it's kinda sloppy (understandably). There's no doubt in my mind it won't do this when he's finally released, though.

 

Nothing to be worried about. Just the usual prototype/test shot sights that tend to pop up.

 

What I am saying is that if, for whatever reason, Takara has issues with livery for legal reasons, it's not a deal breaker for me. I'm just not a huge fan of livery. If Takara is able to put it on Jazz and Mirage, that's perfectly fine. If they're not able to include Martini or Gitanes, it won't bother me at all. I'm speaking to the cartoon MPs, not the real world cars.

 

Its a hand painted prototype, so I wouldn’t worry about the paint.

 

I’m not interested in MP Cliff but I’d buy the head if I could get it. That’s a very nice sculpt! I want a Spinout so I can give my MP Sunstreaker a toy head, and I think it’d be fun to put a Cliffjumper head on the red Countach body. Cliff deserves an upgrade after all of these years!

 

Oh, absolutely agree. I couldn't care whichever way Takara does them. I love me both a plain Jazz and tatted up Jazz, and the same with Mirage. They're gonna be the characters either way, and like you said earlier, ToyHax can save the day.

Though I kinda wish they made waterslide versions of all their kits cause stickers are eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh IMO

 

It's pretty rare to see these hand-painted samples in the wild, though, so you really gotta wonder what truck this dropped off of, to be in some leaker's hands.

 

Ah, they find a way: the modified Red cross stickers for Ratchet, the "I autobot New York" plate for Bumblebee with an heart sticker to cover the autobot symbol...

But good old Walter Wolf of Sideswipe Countach fame had an actual 935 made road legal...

Either of those would have been fair game for a Transformer given the Autobots' strange tendency of choosing exotic one-off racing or custom cars as their 'disguises'!  

 

The only play that most of them belonged was the race track in The Autobot Run episode. The rest of the time, off-road desert driving and low clearance vehicles.

I worry about that spot on CJ.

That's a high rub area, and it looks like his legs are fully painted, rather than BB who was just black plastic.

Hopefully we're still looking at a rough cut of the figure that didn't get all of the TLC it will get when runs begin.
