Bike mode is pretty gorgeous to me and the transformation looks fun, but the robot mode could look better. I have three big issues with it, though thankfully two of those are fairly easy to fix. My main problem (and unfortunately the one that's not easy to remedy without botching the toy's transformation) are those unsightly wheel kibbles on her legs. It wouldn't be such a hard pill to swallow if Arcee's knees had a nice, deep bend, but the way it is you can't even justify the kibble not integrating into the back of her shins with some extra range. It really should've either been a 90 degree knee bend with better kibble management or the kibblines we have now but with some more range on them knees. My second issue is with the head sculpt. While the overall face looks nice, the way Arcee's eyes are shaped somehow gives me the impression she has a Sonic the Hedgehog style mono-eyeball that's only separated by her crest. I'd imagine adding a little silver pain to where the lacrimal caruncles are supposed to be (no, I'm not talking about Arcee's four-wheeled male relatives, huehuehuehue) would make it look better for me, so it's no biggie. Finally, I think parts of the upper torso could use some work. From a side view it's completely fine, but from the front I'd say the parts right under the chest region (where the ribs and serratus anterior would be on a human) are a little too wide. I know there are people who have a distaste for almost all fembots looking like slender, conventionally attractive women, and I'm super happy for you if you either don't have a problem with the aforementioned part of the toy or downright prefer the way it is, but if I do decide on getting myself a copy I'll definitely try to file away at them to give the figure a more tapered torso akin to how she looked on Prime. I've even utilized my epic virtuoso MS paints skillz to cobble together a super rough draft of my dastardly plans! That being said, I do like how the figure's arms are a little bit thicker this time around. Those always appeared a little too thin and fragile looking to me on the original toys. I'm still tempted to buy this toy, especially since I've really taken a liking to tinkering on my figures recently, but I also wouldn't be against sitting this one out and see if the eventual retools will look a little better. Despite how nice some of this Prarcee's articulation is, out of all the Legacy deluxes I've seen reviewed so far I'd say she's my least favorite (yeah, I even prefer Skids). That being said, I also adore Kingdom Cheetor despite a lot of people proclaiming it to be one of the worst molds of WfC, so who knows, perhaps Lprarcee here will be more to my liking one I get one in hand.
I tried to hold my tongue on this yesterday, but seeing it again this morning, it really bothers me that they think this is a loving G1-style homage to Prime Arcee. Seeing the pics of her side-by-side with the Prime line version doesn't convey the language of the character at all, the only things they did were get the colors, the basic shape of the head crest, and alt mode. There's no leanness to this figure at all, not just feminine (which is also lacking), but slim and lean forearms and thighs and torso and neck; they didn't even integrate the wheels into the boots, they're just dangling off the sides. And all that sets aside the fact that the face doesn't convey the character or even a female Transformer whatsoever. I didn't know I was at all attached to the character, the only version of Prime Arcee that I have is the Cyberverse one, but if you're going to claim you're representing the rich history and "legacy" of Transformers, even in a G1 style this should have been done better.
If I were to get her, it would only be to customize her into a Junkion. Definitely needed some trimming around the torso to sell the fembotness a little better.
FWIW I don't miss those; battery compartments that can corrode or hinder sculpt/movement, parts that end up missing, possible cracked/dried out tires. I really like that accessories and any play-pattern gimmicks are generally a more integrated part of the figures now. As for paint, I find TFs are still among the most consistent mass-retail releases in that field. Any I order online arrive looking just fine, when it's quite a gamble on a lot of other lines.
yes it does, it looks like a fembot at least, also this is easily one of the best Arcees ever designed, looks gorgeous, Prime colors + legs + skirt + G1 Head + wings + torso = great Arcee, but this line wasn't even created for classic homages to Prime characters, is just ToonizedSunbow-esque molds with Prime names and colors like Legacy Bulkhead, who can perfectly fit in the SS86 line for how little of Prime Bulkhead he has and how much of gewuun he has too and IDW-tier bodies like Legacy Arcee who looks nothing like a fembot
You people keep going on with how Legacy Arcee doesn't look "feminine" to the point it makes me question how you see women.
Newsflash: if you want a female transformer to look like a slightly more articulate barbie doll, be ready to have the entire vehicle form a backpack.
I do like that design, but I feel like it would suffer from the same problems at a deluxe price point as every G1 Arcee and most other female Transformers since it barely has any alt mode kibble. Even being a bike you'd never get that clean and sleek of a silhouette. This design was never made with an actual transformation in mind.
The transformation is more involved than I expected and the bike mode looks niceā¦but man, I just want FE Arcee.
I'm wondering if Legacy Arcees (and Road Rockets) can ride each other as Wreck-Gar and Junkyard can? Maybe Lickety-Split too? The wheels look a bit like (oversized) cams on a crossbow or electromagnetic armatures/stators on a railgun. Maybe with a 3D printed plug-in rail/barrel part it'd look more like a gun?
Now make those a transformable toy with a recognizable vehicle mode at the deluxe price point. Exactly. Once we get past the realization that what you want is untranslatable into plastic, then cross reference it with the fact that everything about this new Arcee fig is representative of the TFP version while having those Generations sensibilities about the aesthetic, people will be in a much happier place. Or they can just get First Edition TFP Arcee and call it a day. If you're wanting direct TFP aesthetics, then this figure is NOT for you. Nothing about the line even remotely suggests that they'd swing that way in the first place.
