We're still missing Mekaneck and Moss Man...and that dragon-toting Skeletor...and probably a ton more I'm forgetting. I'm also curious what additional vehicles they may have in mind.
We still need a non-exclusive Grizzlor; that seems likely since they have the sculpts. Hoping for Sy-Klone myself. And it would be great to get some more Horde or Snake Men characters.
This is the Origins Mattel sales sheet that’s been floating around online for 6 months. On it is mantenna, 200x Skeletor, King Randor, whiplash, mini comics Trap jaw (confirmed), Pig Head (confirmed), and Digitino (confirmed).
How about a Point Dread with Talon Fighter? I want some Skelcon troop builders and also the Skeleton Warriors that we have seen on packaging from time to time.
Some remixing of some figures from the older waves that had shoddy distribution with the newer stuff would be welcomed too.
We still need for Origins: Masters: Laser Power He-Man He-Man (200X) Thunder Punch He-Man Mekaneck Lizard Man Man-At-Arms (with out helmet) Moss Man Snout Spout Sy-Klone Tytus Zodak Road Ripper Attak Trak Battle Ram Cliff Climber Evil Warriors: Dragon Blaster Skeletor Laser Light Skeletor Kobra Khan Evilseed Megator Night Stalker Two Bad Griffin Roton Battle Bones The Evil Horde: Hurricane Hordak Callix Dragstor Dylamug Modulok Horde Prime Horde Wraith Leech Octavia Multi-Bot Shadow Weaver Scorpia Catra Clawdeen Catra in cat form Fright Zone Mantisaur Slime Pit with Horde Zombie He-Man Monstroid Snake Men: King Hsss (200X) Rattlor Blast Attak Sssqueeze Snake Face Tung Lashor Snake Soldier The Great Rebellion: Adora Bubble Power She-Ra Galactic Protector She-Ra Bow Glimmer Madame Razz & Broom Swiftwind Powercon/Matel Creations/Exclusives: Camo Khan Castle Grayskullman Count Marzo Despara He-Ro Fearless Photog Hover Robots King Grayskull (NOT! Revelations) Snake Man-At-Arms Strobo Eternia Captain Glenn Demo-Man Uncle Montork & Dree Elle Eldor Skelcon He-Ro vs Skeleteen Lots More I could put on this list, but these are for mostly retail. So unless we get a Selects line like Transformers has we may not get half of what is on my list and others like Huntara, Flutterina, Battle Lion, Cy-Chop, Hawke, Plundor and Darkdream.
I could see them doing fun stuff like Plundor! I really hope we get Castle Greyskullman in Origins, kids would love that
I'd love to see them do Snake Mountain. They're clearly not adverse to vehicles and playsets and SM was my all time favorite as a kid.
With the amount of love the Roton gets, I can't see that not get an Origins release. The Attack Track should get a release. Even if it has no electronics, the tracks should still work if pushed.
I think the problem with Blackstar and Bravestar is where the IP right are. They were much bigger toy lines than Sun-Man or Fuerza-T. I'm sure it's much easier to get Yla to agree to a dead that what ever company owns Blackstar and Bravestar.
I think Dreamworks owns Filmation's catalog these days. Not sure. I know Blackstar toys were made by Galoob, I had most of the line, and if Mattel adds him & his friends/enemies to MOTU, they better not skimp on the glow-in-the-dark weapons! I forget who did Bravestarr (I only had a Tex Hex figure, and that was only because skullhead guy).
Very likely. imagine if we saw any of the old (now expensive) random lines: speclatron Flexatron Galaxy warriors X-changers Battle of right EArth force
I'm going to be honest here, your list is skewed heavily towards characters introduced for Classics, Filmation or other non-toy representations and I didn't go through everything here, but obvious Filmation Characters I noted in the quote above with flavor text. I'm not sure how things stand when it comes to Filmation for Origins, what I do know is that so far, aside from Sun-Man most everything has been made to resemble the original toys, not the Filmation designs and not the Filmation created characters. I would hesitate to say we'll never see them, but at this time I am thinking for Origins we'll see more characters that were toy-only first and foremost to round out the original toyline with modern articulation. So I'd rather see Mermista, Peekablue, Sweet Bee, Perfuma and the rest of the PoP Toy characters before they start using the likes of Madame Razz in the Origins toyline for the Great Rebellion. And Chances of Huntara are fairly slim since she was a Filmation creation. 200X figures would be nice too, but I kind of want to see them make a 200x sub-line for Origins where they re-make the figures as the originally appeared in that toyline with the modern articulation updates. Probably not going to happen, but I'd love to see how the original Four Horsemen sculpts were intended to be released with all the knee and elbow joints functional and not hindered by the 'play feature' requirements of the line. If it showed up in a Mini-Comic we might see it in Origins, or as Power-Con Exclusive eventually, but if there's some kind of licensing issue for Filmation likenesses we won't see any of them.
^This. I grew up watching the original series but at this stage in my life 200X is the definitive version of the MOTU Universe. I've purchased 2 Origins style figures purely based upon nostalgia but in order for me to stay invested in the MOTU franchise i'd need to eliminate the negative impression that other versions of modern MOTU media left in my mind. That would require revisiting 200x and releasing product. It truly is the best of the MOTU media i.e. it hasn't been changed in such a a way that it has become unappealing and thus i'd support toy product financially. If not i'm comfortable letting MOTU gently fade away into obscurity and investing in other lines. Seeing Sun Man added to the Origins line gives me hope for the MOTU franchise period.
Never really thought about it, but yeah, Attack Track could work sans the motor. Seems it would need a lot of moving gears to get there, so I don't know if that could happen at the $30 price point shared by Wind Raider and Land Shark. I would love to see it. Attack Trak was my only Motu vehicle as a kid, though I have no recollections of the damn thing ever having the treads. THAT'S the engineering upgrade I want to see: treads that stay on.
I can't find it but somebody scratch built a Classics-scale Attack Track some years back and it was friction activated. No gears, just a wheel and track assembly. I believe the old Mongram model functioned the same way. I expect any motorized Vintage vehicles reimagined for Origins will be done in a similar manner. I'm not sure how they'd bring Spydor over though.
