In robot mode she isn't. I love Airazor but wrist swivels are simply one of the best points of articulation because of the flexibility they allow at holding weapons.
The transformation is extremely similar to that of the legion class figure from the Prime toyline: The head being covered by the front of the bike, the arms being placed in the back of the seat, the \"wings\" covering the sides of the bike while also covering the the torso, and ofcourse, the legs making the underside of the bike. I also like how the transformation requires you to pull her panties off... Anyways, this figure looks decent in my opinion. Not pure perfection, but not rock bottom. But then again, I feel like the Bulkhead pulled this aesthetic off WAY better. However, I can see this being retooled/remolded into a more show accurate figure.
Not just the Legion. That's just Prime Arcee's basic transformation scheme. The only version of her that does something a bit different is the First Edition, which made part of the front motorcycle cowling her chest. But that attempt wasn't particularly accurate to her on-screen model.
It's strange that these Wave 1 Dlx's don't have preorder releases until July while the Voyager (Bulkhead) has a May release, yet we're seeing these reviews. Despite they're questionable way of them getting these Legacy Dlx's for reviews, I wonder if they'll start showing up at retail much sooner than July.
The July dates are conservative estimates based in part due to the current worldwide supply chain issues. Otherwise, this would have been the Spring 2022 assortment, and under normal circumstances, we probably would've been seeing them on shelves already, in some areas.
Well, that's what always happens. I remember that we got Earthrise Wave 2 reviews very early and only started getting the figures many months after. (Mind you, hopefully Legacy is similar to Kingdom Wave 1 which we got earlier than estimated).
Mixed aesthetic aside, I think this figure is ugly. It does nothing for me. I really dig the bike mode, but that ain’t enough to save it. Easy pass.
I think this looks very good and a much better effort at looking like a "g1-fied version" of the character than Bulkhead managed to, but what is going on with that face sculpt?? She looks like she got punched in the mouth and the nose isn't great either. Weird since they had nailed fembot faces just a while ago with the POTP line.
I mean, i do sorta see where they were coming from on these "Prime" toys. Really, most of the original Prime toys (save for Knock Out and Arachnid) really did an amazing job capturing the onscreen designs (FE Bulkhead is a legitimate 10/10 toy). So they opted to try doing something new instead of trying to outdo the superior engineering of the original Prime toys, but their idea of new seems to be just taking away most of what was aesthecally unique about the designs, like Bulkheads roundness, or Arcee's slim, generally kibble-light design. If a prime soundwave toy truly is in the works, it'll probably be a generic boxy robot with a screen face and extra long arms.
Blackarachnia is a little more limited I suppose, but Airazor is one of the most articulated deluxes ever, let alone fembots. She lacks only wrist swivels, a joint that is more for the visuals than anything else, especially since Airazor isn't a character who really uses hand held weapons. No, he's right. Inflation applies to our little plastic robots just like everything else in the world, costs go up, and the budget gets more and more restricting, hence why figures have shrunk and prices are increasing. Well...if ya know, ya know, and thats about all you can say without your post being nuked from the thread... But I feel like they'll be out a lot sooner, 6 months from January (Kingdom W5) to July (LG W1) is a long time for Generations to stagnate with no new releases.
Airazor never using handheld weapons in the show doesn't mean that her lack of wrist swivels is justified, especially for someone like me who is more attached to the toy which did use handheld weapons. And of course wrist swivels is for visuals, articulation is made for that reason and wrist swivels are really important for it.
The biggest thing that bothers me with this Arcee is that she doesn't come with a gun. Perhaps I should rage over it....
The only one that included it was PRID... and it was way too big for Arcee and vaguely resembled the look of the show (and I wish they would have included a second blade instead since there's no point of giving Arcee just one).
