Damn, on Amazon Japan shipped to Spain it's more expensive than Shouki, hope it will go the same price.

    I have Shouki preordered at 16034 + 1603 taxes + 1897 shipping = 19510 yen = $170 = 149 euro
    However Getsuei preorder is 17600 + 1760 taxes + 1897 shipping = 21239 yen = $185 = 162 euro

Now THAT is a train mode. None of the 3Ps managed something so beautiful, the robot has some added visual interest too thanks to the train detailing.

The price will go down eventually on Getsuei. The same thing happened with Shouki. The shipping is what may fluctuate slightly though. Still, I expect to pay a final price of about $160.00 USD for each of these, to be shipped to me in California, USA. Hasbro Pulse (the 2nd least expensive option) Starts at $159, and wile shipping is Free at that price, taxes are not, which adds another $15.00 or so.

So basically Amazon Japan has the advantage of being the least expensive option (by a slim margin), but also, allegedly you will be one of the first to get the item, since these will be shipped before Pulse, or any other 3rd party retailer gets them, or so I am told.

Getsuei looks stretched sort of like MP Ironhide/Ratchet.

Yeah, that's exactly my issue too. However, Shouki is perfect to my eyes.

Should be about $141-142 for most of us shipped from AMJ.

Why the trainbots as the first combiner? Why not bruticus or devastator

In my mind they're completely different things; these rival HO scale model trains in locomotive mode. Radiatron puts the bot and gestalt modes first and handwaves at the train modes.

Given the design choices Takara seem to be making they'd be directly competing with Magic Square's and Newage's Devastators if they went with roughly HO scale as they did here, which seems like a deliberate choice given all the cross-marketing with Tomy's model railroad-ish offerings.

That's probably not the only or even the primary consideration, but given the range of high-quality Constructicons available from almost a dozen different companies they probably rightly don't want to play that game, especially since we all know they'll be hitting all the combiners that saw stateside release in the Eighties in Legacy.

That works out to be ¥56,223 shipped to me in California for three, which is around $490.68. Hmmmmmm....

    How is that? The current Price I have pre-ordered for Shouki is Y 15,729 (or $137.27 USD) Pus shipping Y 1,782 (or $15.55) = Y 17,511 or $152.83.

I just round up to $160, because I have no idea what shipping will be in 6 months on future purchases

The train fan in me is almost tempted to collect these, despite no attachment to the character whatsoever.

Too many Americans hate trains. I would have been all over that personally but Walmart was probably dubious on how they'd sell versus fighter planes and sportscars and guns and trucks.

This new one looks nice in both modes. Only issue is his arms seem a bit stubby in bot mode. Or maybe it's the lack of detail? Something's off about the arms. Other than that he looks like another really nice addition to this sub-line.

Where did you order from at that price?
    Yeah same!
I hate that this is true. If we had better trains in america it would be really good.

I invented a train combiner for fanfics in middle school and so I was very very very annoyed when I found out there was actually one in Diaclone and Hasbro was like yeah no.

Like Shouki he should get a 20% discount/+ shipping gets 19836-3967 =15869 yen, converted is actually $139 right now. Haven't seen amazon shipping change yet once an order has been put in, which is one of the benefits of pre-ordering with them.
