I can only tell you the prices of my usual vendors, sorry, not gonna doubt you tho. It's just out of what I'm willing to pay. If you like what MPG is offering, fine, you do you, I'm just not getting behind the idea of a combiner team with mediocre limbs and generally dislike the direction Takara took with their pricings since MP44

I count that each track is about 22.5 of those holes wide. There are 2 tracks.

But if the hole is 4mm wide, the 2 tracks together are only 7 inches long, unless I'm doing the math wrong?

From there, I would guess the gestalt foot to shin is only about 4 inches tall?

    Can that be right?

Getsuei's alt mode is making the part of me that was obsessed with Thomas the tank engine at 5 years old giddy

Like the others in this series from Takara, nice train, weird robot, not a masterpiece level figure, Moon Studios version embarrasses TTs effort.

I dig the - somewhat unconventional - chest of this guy. Nice shade of blue as well (I didn’t realize Takara was going for the toy coloring of these).

Great looking Train! Takara nails the Train mode, Moon Studios seems to have nailed the Combined mode, and both have OK Robot modes, but not great.

The coloration is likely more to resemble the real life train than the old figure.

They're not going for cartoon colors (hence the black on Getsuei here rather than a dark gray). Doesn't mean that there won't be color changes on the robot that matches the cartoon over the toy. Hence the blue eyes we've seen so far.

Think the older Masterpiece figures (Sideswipe, Soundwave, etc.) that while not 100% cartoon colors, did match the layouts and color choices mostly. But also had things that resembled a real world item.

Depends what you mean by all-in-one. We know the chest plate is a separate piece.

i've got a lot of feelings about these guys, but ill put it after my main worry im seeing.

This hinge here. if that upper blue panel tabs onto the front of the train shin block, i think we can kiss ankle tilts goodbye on the combined mode. hopefully when we see Yukikaze, we'll get a better indication of if there's tilts hiding in there, cause if not that combined mode is gonna be standing perfectly straight all the time, or not be terribly stable.

also, unless they come with someone else, no big doofy foot rockets. darn.

I think my mood is not unlike most people here. thems some frickin nice looking trains, and some totally acceptable robots! Getsuei looks a lot cleaner than Shouki, which is nice. im mainly worried about the use of painted clear plastic on both these guys, Shouki mainly. The sides of the train are almost entirely painted clear plastic with thin guiding tabs. some of those panels become the bottom of the robot mode feet, that wont hold up over time well. i really wish they went with colored plastic and clear inserts, or shit just dont give us clear windows. I dont think anyone would have been upset if the windows were painted black on all these guys if it meant regular plastic for most of them. thats the #1 thing holding me back from going in on Shouki (i cant afford to go in on all of these, man id kill for a chug Raiden eventually...)

he 100% is, and i think thats a good thing. G1 Shouki, both the toy and the show model, were built like brick walls.

man i really wish Shouki wasnt so fragile looking, he's easily my fav trainbot and i love that the MP went for his wideboy look, Moon Studios missed that mark hard i think.

I wonder if yukikaze could be made to make up more of Kaen to get something more proportion when combined

It's getting harder and harder resisting going all-in on these guys.

I think this guy looks great. The trains are fantastic looking. I think I am starting to lean towards these guys. The moons studios trains look short and plump to me now and the Robots seem less detailed.

Doubt it's intentional... Not everything has a motive behind it.

see usually id agree, but Hasbro and Takara are both pretty good about not showing the ugly angles of their bots in merch photos. Lots of generations bots dont have back shots because it reveals the hollow spots, and i do honestly think its intentional. i remember being amped for Kingdom Tracks until i saw his other angles that werent in promo photography and it was shown how weirdly hollow he was. i dont think theyre 'hiding anything' with this, i think in this instance its just 'the back of the leg isnt something worth showing in promo photography'.

also it might be kinda ugly. nothing deal breaking, but i guarantee its the weakest angle.

GUH NEARLY $200CAD BEFORE SHIPPING. man that... hurts a lot. these MP figures just get more and more expensive... and they expect you to shell out for 6 of these nerds if you wanna do a Raiden. im happy that theyre doing MP Raiden, or a first party MP Combiner at all, took them long enough, but god damn thats expensive for a smaller MP thats part of a large group...

do... you think we'll see some nuclear powered $1200+ alt deco box set at the end of all this lol.
