Haven't watched the review yet, but based on the screencaps this is certainly the Kickback I've been waiting for. Kickback was one of the first Decepticons I got so he and the Insecticons hold a certain nostalgia for me. Bad insect modes and all.
He looks good! my only real complaint is that there seems to be no attempt made at hiding the face, it's just pretending that it's not there. If Kickback looks this good, I can't imagine how Shrapnel and Bombshell will look. EDIT: That does exist, Chefatron just doesn't do it.
Official promo pics from Hastak showed a face covering If I remember correctly. I think this is just an error either with the reviewer or his 'advance' (ahem) copy.
I looked through the thread and just saw that picture. Doesn't particularly do the job in my opinion, but it's better than nothing.
I own two TR Kickbacks but man, Legacy looks so good. Fortunately I can just reuse the two TR Kickbacks as generic Insecticon clones since, yeah, that was a thing in the cartoon. They're smaller so they even fit in that role.
Hasbro: We'd like to use less plastic. Also Hasbro: Include unnecessary accessories when they could've used that plastic to fill in any gaps. Kickback still looks great, but he didn't really need those dinky purple swords. Inb4 they forget about the deluxe Insecticons again.
Yeah. Just posting this who don't wanna go through the whole thread. This was still a promo render, maybe it has been changed since?!? Enlarge! Enhance!
I am trying to stick to my Prime Wars legends insecticons…but this guy is making it tough. I really just want the G1 toy with modern articulation, and this guy pretty much does it. My TR Kickback has a couple QC issues that prevent things from working properly and he just feels kinda cheap.
The first thing that bothered me about this figure was how 'wide' the shoulders are due to the wing rings being so thick. And they're that thick because they're clear plastic. With them having to rotate all the way around to the front means you can just sink them into his back to shrink all that down. I think that'll always be unsightly to some degree. That all out of the way, this is a figure I'm still looking forward to. I've been wanting a (basically) Reflector-height set of Insecticons for a very long time! It kinda sucks how most of the deluxe figures have shrunk to around that size, but I have my collection, and this guy will fit in just fine.
Looks awesome... though the robot head being the grasshopper head is a double-edged sword, you cannot unsee the other mode\'s head. Wonder if antennae can move. Also curious they added an opening chest door. What would you put in there? Maybe there will be some Diaclone driver hommages?
i kinda like the prime trilogy scout class ones more. so far legacy isn't really wowing me the way WFC did.
Looks great, I'm in on him especially since I missed out on the TR version. I'll be using my legends Insecticons (CW Bombshell and POTP Shrapnel) in probably alt mode as Insecticon drones. The best part of getting both or having multiple Insecticons is you can still keep them and use them as drones. Bring on Bombshell.
Strange to say, but that is a handsome Kickback; the best mainline one since G1. I hope they make all three in a set one day.
I'll echo the "too big" for it to feel right. Don't like that the chest plate doesn't open and lack of face cover, and find the insect mode lacking. He's nice for those that didn't get the previous version but I'm going to stick with the set of the legend sized insecticons, they just fell better in that size. I wished that instead of this, he would have been legend sized, and that they would have done all three insecticons together as a voyager class box set would have been great, amazing even, heck, perfect really.
