I was wondering about this recently. The Sideswipe mold keeps on trucking and we are getting another Van and another Datsun release this year but no rumors of a new Earthrise seeker release. I know we are getting Coronation Starscream but I’m really surprised that it hasn’t popped up more in Selects or as an exclusive. I really want Thundercracker in the Action Master deco and Nacelle using the Funpub deco!

I know a lot of people dislike the mold (it doesn’t bother me) but I was wondering why this mold isn’t getting mined for more releases like some of the autobot cars are.

@Apollux @CactusReporter @Pixelmaster @wreckgar39 did any of your sources ever discuss the mold and it’s possible future uses?

 

They seem content on doing cone head only repaints, while my seekers are modified I still can't understand anyone hating those bad boys, rain makers, shattered glass there is any number of repaints they can do. Alas I'm not holding my breath at this point.

 

Yeah i don’t have a ton of confidence in getting more. It’s a voyager mold with a lot of possibilities but Hasbro has released more of the siege mold and I wonder if it’s done

 

ER? I'm still waiting for a Siege Sunstorm 

 

Yeah I think Sunstorm is probably the highest profile rando Seeker that has not been released with either WFC mold. I’m not interested in it but it’s another piece that has a lot of appeal that they haven’t sought to make and release.

 

Him or Acid Storm. I'm honestly surprised how little either of the recent Seeker molds have been milked, its like Hasbro is scared to overuse it meanwhile ER Cliffjumper is on like his 9th repaint and the Siege Lambo has been used at least a dozen times (more if you count Kingdom Sideswipe and Red Alert, and the upcoming Velocitron Clampdown).

 

Acid storm at least got a release of the Siege mold.

 

And Bitstream. I’ll take any and all done but I’m “missing” those two for sure.

 

It’s gotten 9 uses. I’m shocked the mold is still viable at this point!

 

Siege has had 10 so sky’s the limit!

 

Seeker molds print money, hasbro would be stupid to not capitalize on that.
Selects can drop more cancelled g2 randos easy.
And with rotb getting pushed back a year, I can see lots of store exclusive quick-n-dirty repaints being used to fill the gaps.

Easy chances to do plenty of seeker repaints. Air warriors, sunstorm, more g2 randos, pretender/g2/action master starscream. Etc.

 

Never say never.

Look how far out from Titans Return we were while still getting reuses of the Doublecrosser mold.

 

I need me a G2 starscream

 

I know right? Still waiting for Nacelle and Slipstream.

 

I'm still waiting on Siege AND Earthrise Seekers. Siege Sunstorm & Nacelle, versions of Hotlink and Bitstream that aren't covered in the obnoxious Netflix-style of battle damage, a re-release of ER Dirge and Ramjet, and some kind of ER Slipstream.

 

Sunstorm, Nacelle, Bitstream, G2 Starscream, AM Thundercracker, Jungle Attack G2 Starscream, E-Hobby Black Starscream, Ghost Starscream... probably lots of variants on the classic trio if you want to chase that (toy decos and the like).

Near as I can tell the ER mold is doing fine despite being used for 8 (?) figures (9 if you count the upcoming coronation Starscream). Siege mold has 11 redecos at this point with SG and the premium finish.

For the record, if you include the new Buzzworthy deco, the Cliffjumper mold has "only" been used 7 times (2 CJ's, 2 BB's, Hubcap, Bug Bite, SG Goldbug)

Sideswipe... Siege, G2, Red Alert, Kingdom SS, Kingdom RA, Deep Cover, NF Deep Cover, Clampdown, and Tigertrack. Oh, and9 Gigawatt! So that's 10.

Now, how do we count Siege Megatron? ER Megatron is a remold, as extensive as Gigawatt, NF Bumblebee, and KD Sideswipe. If those count, I guess we toss in the ER mold, which gets us.... Siege, G2 white, 35A, NF1, NF Spoiler, ER, ER G2, SG, PF. That's 11!

So in the used and abused WFC mold categories I think it ranks:
Sideswipe - 12 uses (updated)
Siege Seeker and Megatron - 11 uses so far
ER Seeker - 9 uses
ER Cliffjumper - 7 uses

Surprisingly the Datsun bros, despite having 3 classic G1 characters and Barricade all based on that mold, has not seen nearly the same use as Sideswipe, which really only has two popular characters based on that mold.

Edit: @Houdini reminded me of the NF Sideswipe and Red Alert molds.

 

I’m hoping for many more ER Seekers down the road. Bare minimum G2 Starscream, G2 Blackout, and Sunstorm. But I’ll take any repaints they decide to puke out.

I just want SG Thundercracker in Actionmaster colours.

 

Imma be honest, don't expect too many more IF any more Siege/ER Seekers any time soon. Mold degradation has hit those hard
