Might be a long shot, but I've been wanting to get a large suited body to use for Tombstone with the head that came with the figure from 2017 and the all-black Select John Wick body seems to be a good fit. By any chance would anyone happen to have the John Wick figure and the Tombstone head so I know if it works at least scale-wise before I drop almost $30 on that figure?
They should have kept Spider-man in the symbiote costume. The colors were more approriate and the quick change gimmick solved so many problems. I love classic Spidey but the costume made no sense aesthetically or practically.
Besides looking baller and be so iconic that they always return to it year after year? If it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it.
It does look weird to see him with more trapezoid-like whites on his hands on the package but strictly rectangles on the figure itself. I hope the old hands are compatible.
The more trapezoidal shape is just due to perspective. You can even contrast with the right hand pose, compared to the left. Right hand looks rectangular. Left hand looks trapezoidal, because of the how the perpective vanishing point warps around the wrist, compared to the flatter back-of-hand.
This is jumping ahead a bit, but I've been thinking again about what could be the next ML HasLab(s) and what direction Hasbro could go in (it'd been on my mind over the holidays and then Dan Yun's recent tweet really got me pondering). I'm having a hard time expecting another big character given the options are a bit too obscure to be done at a similar pricepoint to the Sentinel & Galactus. I've been leaning toward one of two buckets: vehicles, or smaller Victory Saber-type stuff that's confirming "ya'll won't have to spend $200-300+ each time out" options are on the table, and have ended up with some guesses... Easy choice, but for cost reasons I'm not so sure - Blackbird & MCU Milano/Benatar (these would work much easier at 3.75 scale given the number of figures they'd need to hold to be relatively accurate, even if you ignore things like the body of the Blackbird and Milano/Benatar meeting areas) Easy choice but not...aesthetically pleasing - Fantasticar (woof Reed could not design vehicles) Something I dread - Danny Ketch w/motorcycle (I still expect this as a retail deluxe-ish release or even resurrecting the Rider Series sub-line, but I do fear Danny ending up here; it'd definitely harken back to the original Sentinel reaction of "why did this have to be a crowdfund") Something I also dread, but less - Robbie Reyes' Hell Charger (throw in maybe Alejandra Jones, Mephisto, and fire effects as stretch goals?) Character picks - Fin Fang Foom, Giant-People (Goliath w/Hank & Clint heads? Giant-Man w/different torsos for his different costumes? Atlas w/Thunderbolt-related stretch goals?) New precedent that could be cool if they don't Rancor it - Danger Room (Danger and plenty of fun options to be had, just please no cardboard backdrops) Would make me giggle but probably too silly - Thanos Copter (feels like a SDCC joke-style exclusive; first appearance-colors Thanos thrown in plus Mentor and Infinity Gauntlets that fit multiple bucks as stretch goals would be nice though) It works but probably too obscure - Punisher Battle Van (tons of guns + Microchip and Lynn Michaels could be stretch goals, but how many people care about Punisher's corner of the Marvel Universe beyond Punisher?) Fun but tests the limits of what Spidey could sell - Leopardon (Hasbro's experience with Transformers should make this easy, and would be an opportunity to outshine the pint-sized Bandai SoC release...but it's Leopardon) My character pick - Uatu (people generally know who he is, decently sized, multiple face options for that big ass head of his, maybe wired cloth cape and Aron the Rogue Watcher swappable parts?) My vehicle nomination - Quinjets (troop-building vehicle potential, could work with both comic & MCU figures, doesn't need to fit a small army of figures inside, flight stand's a natural stretch goal plus SHIELD characters like Maria Hill for other goals)
I wonder whether they’ll consider larger box sets mixing redos of big hitters plus wanted d listers. Eg, once the animated cassette releases are done, a jim lee era x men box set. So a redo and slight improvements of the main guys but also a couple of deeper cut characters like morph or whoever. So unlike doing in a normal wave, customers couldn’t cherry pick, and you’d get them to either rebuy big hitters for the d listers, or buy d listers when you only care about big hitters. And you get to include a larger number of figures than you could do at retail and at a higher price point than that would allow. Not saying I’d want that, but I could potentially see it appealing to Hasbro from a ‘maximising rebuys’ point of view? Though I imagine they’d be wary of a fan backlash.
I wouldn't mind them doing box sets, but I'd be really pissed If I had to buy a load of characters again to get a figure like Morph. The only way they could pull it off is if they went all out on the packaging - Like imagine an X-Men TAS set, but the box looked like the X-Mansion and folded out so you could see the figures arranged in the different rooms. Kind of like how Mondo displayed its wolverine figure in box I do think Haslab could be used for full teams or outfit choices that might be a harder sell outside of that though. Like Magneto and a set of Acolytes. (Magneto, Fabian cortez, Amelia Voght, Frenzy, Kleinstocks with Exodus for a Stretch goal?) Or a box set of the Original 5 in their X-Factor costumes, or a Morrison New X-Men box set.
My wishlist for the Spiderman anniversary: -Supaidaman AKA Japanese live action Spiderman -Spiderman 1977 (live action series played by Nicholas Hammond) -Pavitr Prabhakar -Spinneret (Mary Jane from Spiderman: Renew your vows) -Teresa Parker -Spidergirl (May Parker from MC2) -Steel Spider -Alpha -Electro (Francine Frye) BAF: Big Wheel
I think an Endgame Giant Ant-Man is possible. MCU only collectors are a big market that's barely been tapped.
Youtube review of the classic Doctor Strange: The cape is NOT removable. I didn't know that. Doesn't change anything for me, I still want it, but I'm sure some people will care. Love that meditating pose in the image!
That's actually good news for me because it means I won't be fiddling around with the cape every time I move him.
I dont have a dog in the hunt as I don't want this figure but that is an odd choice. The cape is obviously molded separate so I wonder why the permanently affixed it?
