You can't create "genderless" Transformers because if you're going to draw them as humanoid they're going to have features that we'll identify as male or female. And even in those cases, someone like Pyra Magna wouldn't be seen as traditionally female compared to designs like Arcee or more obviously Black Arachnia. The exception to this is stuff like the Bayverse Constructicons where they could be ANYTHING because there's no immediate human equivalent to stuff like Scavenger, Hightower, etc.

The way you appeal to a diverse array of people is the same way you do it when you were more exclusively targeting boys: Diverse designs. For every Arcee, Windblade or BA, you introduce Strongarm, Clobber, Skold, etc.

It's just like how you've got robots like Prime, Knockout, Bulkhead, etc who use a diverse array of traditionally male body types.

The only reason it stands out with the new female characters is because for the longest time Transformers had so few. So it's going to feel like piling on because you've got to do more work to increase the diversity of designs for your female characters than you do the male ones.

Hey Bob made up the concept pal. I’m just offering a suggestion is all. There is no need for an academic essay.

I think it works best when the only ones in-universe who consider gender are the organic beings who actually have gender, so they view the Cybertronian characters in a gendered way. The Cybertronians themselves don’t care about gender. Unlike early IDW I’d have “male” and “female” characters still exist; they’re just not actually male or female. They just seem that way.

I mean, it's not *me* it's what the people seek representation say. You don't need to make "non gender" characters because it's something that's difficult to make obvious in written fiction. The best way to reflect is to simply have diverse character designs among your cast of characters who are referred to as he/she. Think about characters like Rose/RhodoKnightmon in Digimon. A design that looks incredibly feminine but is portrayed as a regal male character.

Which works in theory, but they all still refer to themselves as "he" or "she" etc. And from a marketing stand point you want to make it clear there are male and female characters because even if they're "genderless" in the reproductive sense you still want that aspect to help young fans identify with them.

Because boys and girls will be drawn to different characters, and while there are girls who won't care if there's an absence of female characters....you reach more girls by reflecting that same diversity in your cast. And that is ultimately the goal: Broaden the audience.

No matter how bad you think your life is… just remember your name is not Chris Cocks. :lol

Lol, naw, I’m sure he owned it and having a name like that surely made him very memorable in every introduction and it probably helped him with his career.

I hope it isn't too difficult for Cocks to become accustomed to this role. I have no I idea what his previous titles were but Id assume he's had many prior positions that involved some sort of leadership.

I'm sure they're looking at the internal success within the company regarding Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons more than the Microsoft sins of the past. He's helped bring some element of synergy between those particular properties and Hasbro probably sees that as a major plus.

Personally, I would prefer to see someone like John Warden get the nod - someone who understands the properties and franchises inside and out rather than a "broad-vision chief officer" type guy. But Chris C was further up the ladder.

I think the correct term is Robo-phobe. LOL! But, really no clue why some think he's a bad choice or why some think he's a good choice.

Think the bad choice opinions come from him coming from branches that tend to be responsible for anti-consumer practices and over monetization of things. He seems to come from such positions.

No decent person cares about that nonsense. Let writers focus on writing good stories.

Because basic consideration for your fellow human is, itself, decent.

Bro, part of a good story is characters readers can identify with and care enough about to keep following.

Respect others as to how you want to be treated. It’s basic common sense.

There was blowback when Cyclonus first paired with Rewind.

And then the freakout when BA kissed Airazor in Kingdom.

Then you've got the usual in how this only ever gets brought up as any kind of concern in times like these when people start throwing around words like "political correct", "woke" and "Tumblr" as criticism.
