As one of the figures featured in the Amazon-exclusive Generations WFC Golden Disk Collection subline, Voyager-class Mutant Tigatron is a redeco and retool of Kingdom Voyager Class Tigatron; Now featuring a new head and a primarily orange deco.

Robot Mode

Rather than the mainly white and metallic green colors seen on the standard release Tigatron, Mutant Tigatron now spots a primarily orange color scheme evoking a "normal" tiger (alongside the teal green parts in robot mode, serving as a callback to an unproduced prototype color of Tigatron's original Beast Wars figure).



Aside from the deco, another standout difference that sets this figure apart from Tigatron is the new head-sculpt that callbacks to the mutant head gimmick of the original Tigatron toy. This new head-sculpt may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for what it was the sculpting and paint job is pretty well-done (At least on my copy)



Structure and function-wise, Mutant Tigatron is almost identical to Tigatron, sharing all of Tigatron's pros and cons. When it comes to QC, some of the joints on my copy do feel a bit tighter than what I prefer on my TFs, but that could be just with my copy and YMMV.

Just like the standard-release Kingdom Tigatron, Mutant Tigatron comes with the same loadout of tail/whip and the bizarre-looking "gut gun". These loadout of weapons are alright and do their job, but I would much prefer if the tail/whip can incorporate some joints for more dynamic "tail whipping" action.



Tiger Mode

From what I know regarding the BW figures in Kingdom, most of the beast modes of those figures features a more detailed and realistic take on its beast mode (Rather than the smooth, primitive CGI-looking beast modes seen in the BW cartoon); And this Tigatron mold here is no exception.

The new primarily orange color scheme that this figure has in its Tiger mode gives this figure a unique identity on its own, and the stripping patterns are very sharp and well-produced.




Conclusion

Mutant Tigatron here on its own merit is a perfectly fine figure, and I can see some dedicated Beast Wars getting a kick out of this figure thanks to the various "easter eggs" referencing previous Tigatron toys that Mutant Tigatron here has.

That said, this figure isn't for everyone, and if you don't care about the new color scheme or the "easter eggs" references in this figure, the standard-release Kingdom Tigatron would do just fine.

Not quite; For some bizarre reasons, some of my local online hobby stores got some of these Golden Disk exclusives in stock, with the exception of Terrorsaur who was nowhere to be seen (I see what those cheeky sellers did there, keeping the most desirable figures of the bunch for last  )

That seems to be a running theme my local online hobby stores seem to had with these Kingdom exclusive sets since I got my Kingdom Grimlock & Mirage the same way a few months ago.

Mutant Tigatron's box is pretty much your typical WFC Golden Disk Collection box:




The figure itself was secured within the packaging with paper ties, which I actually don't mind since using these kinda makes it easier for future reselling in case I want to sell it off someday..

 

Hoping that Amazon will be sending this guy and Terrorsaur out soon!

This thing shouldn't work as well as it does, but I love it   I feel like it's almost a perfect "mascot" character for Beast Wars--raging 90's orange/turquoise colors... rando bug mutant face in line with the 90's "mutant everything" vibe... dope  

 

Now we need to put him next to Shadow Panther.

 

Thank you all for the pictures, so far! I was not really so keen on him, mainly preordered him so I have the Golden Disk Collection complete. Now I cannot wait to get him in hand.

 

Got one for Christmas, since the regular variant Tigatron hasn't graced UK shores just yet.



Overall, I like the weirdo. Improves practically everything on the Cheetor mould, and makes for a cool glimpse into a "what if" version of the Beast Wars world, while still being an homage to the original unreleased figure.




Mine did unfortunately come with turned in eyes, so I had to break the glue holding the plate in the tiger head, and repaint them......made the pupils smaller while I was at it, to make the look a little more realistic.



Luckily, paint seems to be the only snag on my copy; everything else works well enough, and the tolerances are about right (now the hinges for the arms have loosened up a touch).

And a shot with both other uses of the basic engineering for good measure!

Yeah, Mutant Tigatron is here!!! Looks good so far, right? ... Right?



Boooh, they did the same thing to it like with one of the Amazon Siege sets and put the shipping label right on the freaking packaging!



Unfortunately I wasn't at home, when it was delivered, otherwise I would have refused acceptance.

Not opening it till I have contacted customer services and inform the about this mess.

 

Just got mine from Amazon NL. It’s got the derpy eyes, and lifting the wings over the waist pieces takes some uncomfortable flexing, but otherwise this feels like the perfect Classics-style Tigatron mold to me.

 

I opened mine now - Amazon.de did not really care for the problem at all - anyway...

The left front tiger leg is loose at the shoulder. A friend of mine has the same issue, his is even looser than mine. Anyone else got this problem? Curious if this is a widespread "problem".

I think I got lucky on the eyes, though it kinda looks like he is always looking to his right side, oh well.

 

Whoa! Shipping in the USA a month early!

 

Bought this with the intention of doing a stupid crossover because I didnt think id like the mutant head. I LOVE it. Its a damn good figure.

My original idea was to buy an Al Kaline, or Kirk Gibson starting line up figure and put the head on it..If this one goes on clearance I may buy another for it..but I like this one too much now to kill it.
