I hate "Shipping".

I've got nothing against characters forming bonds or even being romantic. There seems to be an obsession with pairing characters off while spinning through the sexual orientation checklist for characters that cannot have sex.

I don't like substituting actual story and character development for soap opera cheese.

 

Personally I tend to view 'shipping' as a different thing to characters forming actual relationships, which can come in many forms and isn't just limited to romantic ones.

I don't mind shipping whatsoever as long as it's within the confines of fanfiction, where it belongs.

The fact that they don't reproduce sexually is one of the reasons I find it weird that these alien machines form monogamous couples with each other, because it serves no utility other than personal enjoyment / pleasure which would be fine if it was recognized as hedonistic and weird. All the things that lead us as humans to pair up they appear to lack, so it just comes off as strange and out of place.

I think 'season 1' Rewind and Chromedome are a good example of how it should be approached (with restraint and subtlety), but when Roberts cheated Rewind back to life they started behaving more like a human couple rather than the aliens they are. There's also the fact that they weren't exactly a healthy couple to begin with, but as soon as Rewind came back they were basically inseparable and made for each other.

 

Jesus, please tell me we aren't gonna go through another argument about shipping on this thread.

Depending on where you live collecting in general has gotten pretty expensive these days.

Onto the latest unpopular opinion: While I'm very much interested in seeing new takes on the franchise, I'm not so desperate for something visually 'different' that I'll just support any shit product just because it's not geewun.

I saw a lot of 'praise' for those mediocre Micromachines simply because they weren't G1-based and nothing more. They could be cheaply made trash but at least it LOOKS different, right? Right???

 

Am I the only one who has had zero issues with shipping or preorders even during these past two years?

 

I've suffered slight increases to Canada but nothing major.

 

The Unicron Trilogy and Aligned have potential to be the next G1 Series but were not prepared to faced against Gundam Seed and My little Pony Popularity.

 

That's what shipping is. IDK what you think it is. Ship fic doesn't have to include sex.

I have had major shipping issues including a figure from China that's been MIA for a month. Plus Hasbro Pulse orders that take longer to get here than eBay and Amazon Japan orders. Why can I get Drift from Amazon Japan in 3 days and it takes me 2 weeks to get Jazz from Hasbro Pulse? IDK.

 

I have no issue with fembots with boobplates. Saying female Transformers shouldn't look like "robot Barbies" is just as limiting as deciding they can't look like Minecraft houses. I prefer a good balance between different body types, with BW Blackarachnia on one end, Strongarm in the middle and Strika at the opposite end. As I like to say, fun is in variety.



Beside, Hasbro should be able to sell what they think will sell without having to worry about what a few pearl clutchers will say on Twitter.

EDIT: Also boobs are awesome. Fight me in a duel to the death.

 

I mean they already do? Why are you acting like Hasbro is some victim to people complaining about things. They’ve just as much a right to go “that’s bad” as Hasbro does to go “nah it’s good”. Personally I’m not a huge fan of over sexualization in Transformers but the stuff I dislike is mainly relegated to fanfics/ fan art. That’s just a personal preference though.

Yeah, it's why his face is blue on blue eyes and the hands have that speckled paint (which for some people seem to chip off depending on your copy).

Ok I see! Sorry about that. My overall point was that I hate when people frame some things (such as complaining about transformers having boobs) being horrible problems for Hasbro. Like it’s somehow affecting Hasbro that some people are taking issue with the way that a lot of female characters are portrayed in transformers.
