That might be the only option for actual Steel Brigade since Vala nabbed the trademark when Hasbro let it expire. Since he's got the trademark I honestly wonder if Hasbro can do them now? Or would it just be a simple case of renaming them as long as they look like Hasbro's version of the Steel Brigade?
Hasbro could most likely put them out under a different name, Vala's version is a bit of a visual departure from Hasbro's version

Yep, that is about the time the wheels started to fall off. If I had to put a hard line in the sand, I would say everything after Destro wanted dead or alive is not very good, besides the final issue. The Snakeeyes trilogy was so good,I have lots of fond memories finding these issues at my local grocery store back in the day.

Just got in some vests from J's armory off etsy. Anyone ever used his stuff before? Was solid hard when I got but after handling a bit and getting them in a normal temp room they began to flex more. Any tips on how to paint these? Do I need to give them a scrub in soapy water first to remove residues? Base primer best used for this type material?
Correct, trademarking the name doesn’t give him any rights to the design of the character which Hasbro can absolutely still make simply under a different name.

In my experience you will definitely want to wash the parts to get rid of any oils and I'd recommend Krylon Ulta Flat cammo series " Bonds with Plastic" there are five colors in basic tones from black to tan. After that I'd use whatever paint your familiar with. Tamiya being highly recommended. Can't wait to see the results.
Steel Brigades like the POC versions would be great. Finished my Riot Viper they blend in like Alley Vipers.
Dorkside got it before bbts? Damn it. I never seem to go with the right place to get them early. Not a huge deal really as they will eventually come but it would be nice to not always be one of the last to get stuff when people are talking about them.

I ordered Storm Shadow from Dorkside, but I also had ML Scarlet Witch in my order so I have to wait until she's also available before they ship. Hopefully it's sooner, rather than later.
