Was at Target today and found something interesting, A Wingfinger with the correctly assembled ankles like on the box.

Normally I dont buy two of the same character but I figured this was interesting to talk about, now I dont know what to do with my 2nd wingfinger, should I keep it or sell it?

I really want a funky redeco of him like they did for the first 2 Fossilizers, so we can build a funky combiner. Not sure about the colour.

I trimmed some of the plastic on the back of his helmet hinge so that it'd raise up a little more, so I you can actually see his eyes... eye? Optic? Stuck without pics rn but it honestly has a noticable effect. He feels more like a dude who like... has an identity? Because you can see his face more clearly>

How'd you manage that? I've been wanting to do so as well but it looks to me like I'd have to do light disassembly which I'd rather not do. Just don't have the chutzpah for it these days.

Used a sprue snipper. It's not -clean- looking but it got the job done. I went in not knowing really what i was doing since i had a spare wingfinger in case I messed up.

Wingfinger is weird but fine - but he's not the main event. For me, it's alll about the fossilizer combiner. There are so many ways to go with this, but my current favourite, that uses all the pieces, is this abomination, this hell beast, this Tri-Deadicus Council, this shambolic walking Bone Yard - that definitely belongs in a museum:

As with Paleotrex, my stance on Kingdom Wingfinger has changed in the 4 months since I got both of them from Amazon for $19 & $14, and, even moreso than P-Rex, I appreciate Wingfinger far more than I did before, but in different ways.

The official beast mode of Transfigurators Pterodactyloidea (literally "Transformers Wingfinger" in Latin) is terrible; an outdated, bipedal, statuesque standing posture with no movable hips rendering knees useless, & tiny feet with no heels that provide little stability for the tall torso, massive head & long arms.
    IMG_0692.JPG
However, this can be reconfigured into a far more accurate and posable posture, with the only caveats to realism being backwards hands & tip-toed rear feet. Thanks so much to others earlier in this thread for their pics hinting that Wingfinger indeed has a worthy beast mode, & is possibly the most poseable Pterosaur Transformer figure ever!
    IMG_0567.JPG
Simply unpeg the universal-hinged, rib-like parts from the tailbone to use them as hips, & reposition the arms as shown, giving it elbows that move the arms out of the way of the hips.
    IMG_0568.JPG
Now this is a formerly avian creature that, while having lost the membranous skin that gave it flight, is still perfectly adept at ground movement. IMG_0569.JPG
IMG_0570.JPG Wingfinger can also use it's titular appendages as claw legs which double as weapons, similar to the acklay from Star Wars Episode II.

    IMG_0575.JPG

    IMG_0573.JPG

    IMG_0595.JPG
And for those who want an enjoyably swooshable pterosaur, he's that too.

Alt mode comparison with Kingdom Beast Megatron, Rhinox, Paleotrex, Airazor, & Rattrap, Beast Wars reissue Tigatron, & Earthrise Smokescreen.

    IMG_0581.JPG
Unlike beast mode, robot mode is fantastically functional without tweaks (as long as the legs are assembled the right way so the knees aren't obstructed. Mine were correct, unlike others' copies on here.) Even has weapon storage.
    IMG_0586.JPG
Joint & peg/hole tolerances are overall great, with the only exception being one of his fist holes, which still holds his blades well.
    IMG_0587.JPG
    IMG_0588.JPG
    IMG_0589.JPG
With his extreme litheness, near white colors, blades & excellent posability (including unhindered universal shoulders & hips), he makes a better ninja than Shadow Panther!
    IMG_0694.JPG

    IMG_0693.JPG
He can even pull an archer's pose, with both blades in one hand like a bow while the other reaches to the beast head that acts as a quiver of arrows! (Might have seen this waaaaay back in the Kingdom appreciation thread around the time he was released)
    IMG_0590.JPG
Official fail #2: The intended use for the beast head as an accessory per the instructions (pegged under the robot arm) is not feasible without parts collision. The beak plenty overlaps the arm.
    IMG_0594.JPG
    Robot comparison with the above.
    IMG_0599.JPG
Fossilization is where things get really awkward for Wingfinger, who's probably the worst at said gimmick. The two torso pieces, especiallly the upper half with the robot head & shoulders, seem limited in use & there always seems to be too few pegs on most of Wingfingers parts when trying to apply them. Worse, the worst tolerances on my copy of Wingfinger are the peg on the back of the beast head, & the peg on the beast neck, the later being official failure #3 because it's supposed to be the peg for the wing backpack & large crossbow weapon configurations in the instructions, but it's far to loose to stay upright on anyone's back or forearm or straight for long in many figures' hands.
    IMG_0678.JPG
It's not entirely hopeless though, as the beast arms make sweet arm-mounted blades for anybody & I combined the rest into a kind of shoulder cannon. The former seem hauntingly familiar on Earthrise Optimus...

Looks great on WFC Trilogy Netflix Nemesis Prime too.
    IMG_0664.JPG
And here's another config into a creepy creature cannon.
    IMG_0668.JPG

    IMG_0669.JPG
But perhaps the best weapon he can be is this rocking Pterodactyl blaster posted about a month ago in the Kingdom appreciation thread by @John TheDestroyer:War for Cybertron: KINGDOM Appreciation thread.! Here's Studio Series '86 Grimlock with a slightly altered version.

Last but not least is my take on a fossilizer combiner of Wingfinger & P-Rex by Bot Bender Orinj on YouTube:

A lot of this madlad's builds are sadly more compromised in articulation & stability than I'd like, but tweaking that combo makes this one that mostly doesn't have those faults. Best part of the OG design is Wingfinger's forearms making much better feet than Paleotrex's.
IMG_0620.JPG The limbs on mine can also be rotated around so Wingfinger's head & body can be in front instead.
    IMG_0621.JPG
IMG_0622.JPG Overall, Wingfinger is an amazing bot on his own (with the right alterations of the official intentions) & can do some sweet stuff with other figures, but isn't nearly as weaponizable as other WFC partsformers, while still having some tolerance issues further hindering that functionality. So while I don't think Wingfinger's worthy of army building, I am glad to finally say he is a phenominally worthy figure.
Thanks again to others on this thread & site as well as @John TheDestroyer & Bot Bender Orinj for the inspiration.

I just got wingfinger today, and i might prefer this over pushing pins. If it is not a bother, mind taking a pic showing how much did you shave?

I'm afraid I just moved house and don't have my figures unpacked, but it becomes pretty self-evident. If you can move the joint both ways, you've got enough. It the joint stops early on, you need to shave a little more. It's all about rounding off the more square area.
