I started So Ra No Wo To. I got 3 episodes in and I am hooked it is so good.

 

I keep seeing people getting into Hunter x Hunter lately, so I'm finally trying it out myself. Watched the first five episodes so far, and it's pretty good. Fairly standard shonen so far, but I've heard it takes a bit before it gets really good, so I'll keep watching

 

Finished Sakugan just now. Man this one had so much potential but between the wonky pacing and the characters, honestly just wasn't that enjoyable for me.

Good lord I can't stand Memenpu. Welp kicking this one to the curb. Good thing I still have Faraway Paladin S2 to look forward to.

I watched it in high school: Didn’t get it.
Tried it again in college: Sort of started to get it.
Now I’m trying again: Still lost.

I refuse to touch any of the movies if I can’t even understand the TV series- so somebody’s gonna have to help me get this or I’m not watching them...

 

Which part that you don't get?

1) Who the heck are Lilith and Adam- and what’s their significance?

2) What are the Evas and what are the Angels?

3) What is the significance of the Spear of Longinus- why does it matter so much?

4) What exactly is an “Impact”- and why do they keep occurring in this series?

5) What sets Unit-01 apart from the other EVAs- why is it so special?

6) What’s up with the “sea scrolls” and why should I care about them? What makes them important?

7) How did the EVA-01 end up in a blood-filled cocoon, and WTF was THAT about?

8) What significant role does Rei play in the Human Instrumentality Project, and why is there a giant Rei during the process? Or was that another “impact”?

9) Who made the Artificial White Winged EVAs, and why did they kill Unit-02? What was that battle about?

 

Adam and Lilith were the first Angels created by the First Ancestral Race billions of years ago. Adam was sent to Earth as the Seed of Life within the White Moon to create the Angels. Lilith was also sent to Earth but within the Black Moon and to create the Lilims (human race). The White Moon ended up as Earth's moon, while the Black Moon is where NERV's base is set upon guarding it.

The Evas so to speak were clones of Adam based on his genetic basis. The Angels were Adam's children and are the antithetical to the children of Lilith (Humans).

The Spear of Longinus is an ancient artifact owned by Adam with the power to penetrate the A.T. Field and immobilize God-like creatures, hence why it stayed in Lilith's body for so long.

The "Impact" is a term used for great events that shaped the universe or Earth in General. The First Impact was caused by the collision between Adam and Lilith in their respective moons, the Second Impact was the explosion in Antarctica that flooded the entire Earth and shifted its axis resulted by Seele's experiment on Adam to separate its soul from its vessel which brought it back to its embryonic state we see in the series. The Third Impact we see in the End of Evangelion was the event predicted by the Dead Sea Scrolls to be the next evolutionary state of the human race where Seele and Gendo all wanted to take advantage of for their personal reasons with the trigger being the fusion between Adam and Lilith, hence the conflict of preventing the Angels from reaching her.

Unit-01 was cloned form Lilith unlike the rest of the EVAs cloned from Adam.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were an ancient document found and used by Seele that foretells future events within the human race and it's how Seele planned to build the Human Instrumentality Project on step by step.

The red cocoon is what they call the "Tree of Life" done in a ritual by the Mass-Produced EVAs with Unit-01 chosen as the vessel merged with the Spear of Longinus, who then later merges with the assimialted form of Adam and Lilith where Shinji has to decide the fate of humanity.

Rei was made as a clone of Gendo's wife Yui and to be the vessel of Lilith's soul. She was meant to be part of Gendo's plan of the Instrumentality Project to fulfill his wish of reuniting with Yui, but she rejected him in the last minute by stealing the Adam embryo from him and join Shinji instead, creating another version of Instrumentality outside Seele and Gendo's plans. And with vessel joining the body Lilith awakens again and starts the Third Impact now that she assimilated with Adam.

The Mass-Production EVAs were made by Seele to destroy NERV now that all the Children of Adam were eliminated, thus having nothing to stand in their way to start the Third Impact as they planned. Unit-02 was just in their way and they had to remove that obstacle away to move on with their plan.
