Exciting.... but will fail.

Used to be that big TF movies brought in a ton of crazy figs and gimmicks... but Bay ran that prize pony into the ground, and rather than refresh the movies when they needed it most (say, after TF Movie 3), Hasbro & Paramount kept giving Bay free reign to basically paraphrase the same plot over and over (when it wasnt so good to begin with!).

Bumblebee movie was great; very muted support, as the studio has lost too much money on the TF franchise lately.

So I get the feeling this toyline will also be small, both in production & marketing. Without a guaranteed hit, Hasbro will not overspend on this... which will hurt the toyline, imo. This movie is unlikely to turn around declining box office sales, but Im hopefully wrong.

Call me crazy, if u like, but I dont think TF movies have had a compelling set of characters that make random non-fans care to see what happens next. Bay has established TFs as an explosion-fest of alien techno monsters, with spinning cameras and CG insanity. I think the freak show crowd is moving on, and Hasbro/Paramount is now fighting an uphill battle to suddenly introduce proper characterization and good storytelling to an apathetic audience...

Edit: But I know nothing of new movie and am open to surprises. Could be great. However, the above stands true, so even an amazing BW movie may fail against the backdrop of what most people expect (a crappy Bay movie they dont care to see again).

Lol the maximals are going to be all spiritual and magical and shit and turn bumblebee in to a new hybrid vehicle/beast warrior the helps unite the two sides so they can work together and defeat giant stone robot.

Giant stone robot will be defending a skybeam coming out the top of some old inca temple. Scourge needs to the skybeam to summon Unicron or some shit.

For all the people worrying that there's a small number of characters/figures, no Predacons etc., these are probably only the first wave or two for each size class. They rarely have an entire line uploaded to systems all at once.
