Man sad to hear about the passing of Derrick Wyatt. Transformers Animated was something I didn't quite appreciate when it was announced, but like most TF shows, I gave it a try anyway, and it quickly established itself as probably my favorite TF animated series outside of G1, and I quickly grew to appreciate the art and style Derrick brought to the series. He's a talent that's definitely gone too soon, and will be missed by many. Rest in peace Derrick Wyatt, till all are one.
I found Animated at a very pivotal time in my life and I'm really glad it was there when I needed it. Its wild how well it holds up, and I didn't intersect with a lot of DJW's circles when he was most entrenched in this fandom, but his influence reverberates and echoes throughout the cosmos. Rest in Peace sir.
So shocked by his loss. Was initially doubtful with the first release images, but the show’s creativity and story makes me still consider this one of the top TF animated series (more enjoyable than the Cybertron trilogy). My sincere condolences go out to his loved ones and family. May his contributions be fondly remembered and honored.
I grew up on G1. He imbued a Transformers incarnation that I thought was going to be fluff with surprising depth, charm, and emotion. RIP to a wonderfully creative mind.
RIP Derrick J Wyatt Guy did an amazing job on Transformers Animated, Mystery Incorporated, and Omniverse (not too big on anything DC releated admittedly)
He won't just be remembered for Animated, but also the plethora of animated shows he helped out, they wouldn't be the same without him. May he never be forgotten for his mark in the realm of animation and character design. May he rest in peace, and till all are one.
RIP Mr Wyatt. We didn\'t get the encore in the end but the world was brighter for your work. Protoman has a very good tribute on the Slag Podcast.
Getting drawn by Derrick was such a gift. It felt like Sesame Street cred or something, it felt amazing to get drawn by such an idol and favorite creator of my favorite series of all time, even though it was me as Ratchet chopping Galvatron and TFP Starscream in half with a butter knife.
Oh man What an unexpected shock.. I wonder if his family will disclose the whole TFA Sary mistery now as Derrick said his idea of where she's from will be revealed on his deathbed I'm thankful that he brought one of my favourite TF series to life, second only to Beast Wars. RIP
My sister was a good friend of his. This is unexpected and heartbreaking. I'm grateful this man introduced me to the beautiful, and chaotic world of Transformers with his wonderful and unique spin on the universe. Farewell to such a master of animated design.
As a fellow Michigan resident and lifetime lover of Transformers, it breaks my heart to hear he's gone, TFA was a bold and fun new direction for the brand and to this day it still holds up.
