What a shock to hear. I'd always hoped to meet him someday. Between Teen Titans, Transformers Animated and Mystery Inc, his influence on animation was legendary. What a horrible thing to happen around Christmas

Animated was a great balance of new and old. Not only that but it was also a well written show with enjoyable character personalities. The art amplified all of this (even if it was polarizing at first). Rest in peace.

This is awful, this man was a joy to interact with in person and on-line and I’m really stunned for words. I was just listening to a podcast he did fairly recently for a Scooby Doo site. I loved looking at his Instagram for his art takes on different characters and all the shelf pictures with all of his Joes, Mask, Transformers, etc intermingled.

My condolences to his family and friends, we lost a good one guys.

Wow, this loss really hurts. Animated is the centerpiece of the franchise to me and Wyatt’s art is a big part of that. He had a deep love and respect for Transformers that was evident in his work. No one could quite replicate the touch he had when doing Animated art.

And all this time after Wyatt continued to post art and share fan art from shows he worked on to social media. I remember reading the Q&As he would have on his blog years back. I hoped for him to be a continuing presence in Transformers for years to come.

I wish I could thank him right now for giving me an absolute favourite Transformers show. Not only that, but other shows like Teen Titans which both sit as favourites of mine. Til all are one

This is a tremendous blow to the animation industry, derrick\'s style was so unique and full of life, the thought of never seeing it again saddens me to the core.

Rest in peace you absolute legend

I don't normally get that upset over the passing of like, public figures, celebrities, etc, but... Fuck, dude. I grew up on his stuff and his art. He was a huge inspiration to me as an artist, especially earlier on, and even as interests come and go and I reorganize my collections I've always got my TFA collection displayed. Best TF show.

He was only 49, rest in peace man :(  Whaaat the hell...

Damn this one hits hard. Just on his other work, Ben 10, Teen Titans, and Scooby Doo Mystery Inc were some of my all-time childhood favs with his fun and colorful art style that paid reverence to the characters he was working with, his work has also influenced my own in both art style and writing. You could always tell that he was a fan of what he was working on.

And all I can say about his work on Transformers Animated is that I wouldn't be here today without that show, it was one of the cornerstones of my childhood and I have him to almost exclusively thank for making possibly the best Transformers show to introduce me into this crazy franchise.

He had a life well, may he rest in peace.

Fuck man. I only ever chatted with him casually once or twice, but he changed the game. Thought for his friends and family.

While I didn't watch Animated when it originally aired, once I did it became one of my favorite Transformers universes. The unique designs he gave the characters was definitely a part of that.. Not to mention he worked on Teen Titans, one of my classic childhood shows. My thoughts and prayers will be for his family and friends. Rest in piece, and till all are one. :(

May he rest in peace, what sudden shock this is… he gave us on of the famous Transformers incarnations, even though we wouldn’t appreciate it till years later…
