That slot was taken by Victorion, which used 4/6 of Defensor's molds.
Victorion is a new IP for HasTak, and I would expect them to repeat this choice in the future, unless Victorion manages to diversify its molds.

It was kinda frustrating that Hasbro only used the First Aid tooling ONCE, at least at normal retail. Meanwhile stuff like the police car and helicopter got tons of re-use. Also kinda funny that both versions of Groove became Wreck Gar.

Anyhow, I wouldn't mind a box set featuring G2 versions of Rook, Off Road, Alpha Bravo and Shuttle Blast-Off. I already G1/CW jet Blast-Off have grouped with PoTP Dreadwind/Darkwing, so being able to put the G2 jet with them would make a full set of jet limbs for Cyclonus or Starscream.

    Love it!
As Stated before, the notion is no less outlandish sounding than them recreating the G1 SEACONS,G1 COMBATICONS,G1 TRYPTICON,WALMART G1 DEVY(Whom as far as we know ?,is a one time use just for those molds,as well as the G1 TRYPTICON molds?),WALMART G1 HOTROD,UNRELEASED TAKARA EXCLUSIVE AUTOBOT DINO CASSETTE GESTALTS (And Yes , I'm recalling instances that contrary to HAS/TAK'S Transformation designs, and technology Evolving to such hights ? ,that they still went and either repaired molds, redesigned portions of molds, and here lately just Completely building these G1 TRANSFORMERS From scratch , to be exact Duplicates with shiny brand new molds..and Only for a single release? Point is these 10 G1 molds being who they are?,and who they never got to publicly be? Is saught after, No.1 here in the states those 2 Subgroups just seemed to fall to the weighs ide, well, them and the G1 TERRORCON's/G1 TECHNOBOT's (Some of the VERY BEST G1 COMBINERS)Folks would buy the absolute cap out of them..and No.2,IT'S THE G2 STUNTICONS!! AND PROTECTOBOTS!!-Holly grails to COUNTLESS collectors. But for real, I'm curious as to if you'd pounce on even just a single bot ,simply on who they are?, or what they werent?
Idk,I just know that if they wanted to, they could absolutely flip a profit,it's not like they don't have multiple ways of Using the Characters names already?,this just gives them 2 more ways.
Btw, I'm a COMBINER Whore too
I a sure you I'm quite the opposite of Manic, lol, but I apologize for the congestion .
And YES,but I'm not asking for a reissue?,but instead just an actual Release for the G1 Molds in the unused G2 Paint Schemes? (I guess I am asking for a rerelease of 1994(The Very First)BOTCON EXCLUSIVE G2 BREAKDOWN?, but all they'd have to do is some sort of alteration/rearange/remold/retool and or rapaint to set it apart from the only current samples loose in the wild And idk why your saying the G1 WALMART EXCLUSIVES didn't do well?,it doesn't matter if a few figures rotted on the shelves, MOST didnt, and besides I'm fairly sure that this was planned all along?,do G1 ,then shit into the 90's,Beast Wars ect?Besides if the sales for those figures did as badly over all as some let on to know?,then they wouldn't still be allowing the ENCORE'S to continue?,WALMART wouldn't hesitate one second to cancel an item..they sure wouldn't be continuing an EXCLUSIVES Line that's well over 5 yrs old now and growing?I'm fairly Certain , give or take a yr?..lol.. If in a HYPOTHETICAL WORD ?,HASBRO actually did shock us all and released one or BOTH G2 GESTALTS?,Would you buy one? (A figure?/a complete Combiner?)
Now this makes my heart palpitat!,IT is NICHE, but idc , I would PAY TOP DOLLOR for a G1 VICTORION?!,they could easily remold the G1 HOTPOT mold/G1 BLADES/a couple of G1 STUNTICONS and brand new COMBINER KIBBLE..I squeel like a little girl just thinking about this.,along side G1 ARCEE,G1 WINDBLADE,G1 BULK HEAD, A G1 PROWL REPAINT into A BAYVERSE BARICADE,along G2 JHIAXUS Ect..but any way, point being This is my DREAM idea, just make my day HASBRO..lol
Oh btw, I concur in regards to DEFENSOR/VICTORION being mold mates?,but if we some how went back in time back to G1/G2 days , then back then every car ,every plain, ever helicopter had its very own mold..I miss those days ..lol.
    MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

I got CW g2 Menasor from HTS for 30 dollars (70% off), so unfortunately they did not seem to sell well.

Why did I bring up the fact that quite a few of the previous vintage g1 reissues didn't sell well? That's easy because they didn't and that has an immense impact on if Hasbro continues doing more G1 reissues. Let's look at who sold well. There's the Cassettes, The Minibots, and depending on where you live Astrotrain and Starscream. The others not so much some spent longer then others warming shelves. Hot Rod and Prime both were immense flops that you could find them at discount stores EN MASSE for a literal fraction of the price. This is important because a point A LOT of collectors forget is that Hasbro is a business that answers to share holders. What makes share holders happy? Profits!! Hasbro isn't going to continue with a line they know is not going to bring in the money. In order to do the Stunticons in the first place they would need to re-make the molds most likely since the originals are probably long gone by this point. That costs money and that's a huge investment that Hasbro is not going to make if they don't think the product is going to sell. How do you determine that by looking at how the other releases did ie the other vintage releases.

As far as conflict with those few samples that are in the wild it's irrelevant. Hypothetically speaking Hasbro would be releasing them as a boxset and the all the copyright information would be different because these would be new toolings. Again you can't get to point B without going through A. Hasbro isn't going to even think of a G2 set without doing a G1 release first.

Would I buy a G2 set of either Stunticons or Defensor? No, I may have interest in a Wildrider or a Dragstrip in those colors, but as a whole the only G1 Combiner I'd buy a new reissue of is the Terrorcons.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the original G2 on the whole sold really poorly, right? And then the CW Box sets also sold poorly, especially by the end. So that's two times Hasbro has unsucessfully attempted to sell the G2 combiners. I bet they'll probably try to give it one more go with a G2 redeco of the upcoming Menasor, but if that doesn't sell either, I think we can probably kiss the hopes of a modern day G2 Defensor goodbye.

Probably won't reissue any of the G1 combiners. Because the diecast metal parts might not be safe for young kids to play with.

Actually G2 was my jam when it was on the Shelves, the Combiners did good but it was about a year or a bit more that the sales started plunging. And I can recall those peg warming scout class type size jets. Lingering way into BW rolling out..it actually F'ed with my mind because I thought it wasn't done lol.. Boy I was Wrong..same thing happened whith the lingering MicroMaster 4 packs.
I can't see how that solidly constructed Stunticons and Protectobots would be unsafe l,)especially considering that we litterally had way much larger Wal-Mart Encores that also possessed Diecast parts?,not to mention the Stunticons and Protectobots had about as much as a modern-day HOT WHEELS toy Car has? Besides the Protectobot HOTSPOT had an all Plastic variant when they fazed out Diecast..and strangely STUNTICON MOTORMASTER never had any major diecast Construction..swear,odd but look it up.. Now I'm unsure if Takaras release did?,I know Hasbro gutted all the Spring loaded mechanisms in the Team Leaders base modes,Takaras Cramble City Team Leaders actually had HotWheel type of projections and ramps ECT ..

None if this is true in any way whatsoever. Diecast is not inherently unsafe, what are you even on about? There are still children's toys manufactured with diecast metal today.

HasTak reissuing or not reissuing any combiners has nothing to do with the presence or absence of diecast metal.

    For the G1 molds:
I don't think Hasbro or Takara have used those molds at all in at least a decade, if not two decades, so there's a high likelihood that they're not viable any more, at least without significant investment. But if they did go to the trouble to repair/remake the molds, I could totally see them making the G2 decos too to help spread out the fixed costs of remaking the molds.

    For CW:
We did get Menasor, so that was one that did happen at least. Like others said, the box sets were not superb sellers, plus there's only so many they can make, so they focused on other things like their flagship fan-built combiner, and making a G1 Computron at all. If it did get made, I feel like they'd have used deluxe Groove, but still probably packed in a legends-class toy too. Might have been as left field as Scrounge with Computron, so it would have been almost anything really.

    For Legacy:
Seems like a pretty high chance for a G2 Menasor given how much we tend to get 90% of the obivious Diaclone and G2 redecos lately. Although you can never be sure, there's a lot of molds that get 1 single use ever despite "obvious" redecos being on the table.
