I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been hoping LEGO would acquire this license. This game, with its varied and striking robo-animal designs, was primed for LEGO, and there have been any number of amazing MOCs to grace the internet since its release. First the return of Overwatch, and now Horizon: Zero Dawn; 2022 just keeps getting better.
I was planning on MoCing the machines, but if this turns into a whole theme, looks like I won't have to! Really hoping a Thunderjaw is in the works at least. But ultimately, having one of each machine would be the ideal. Also, regarding Lego sets based on video games, can I finally get the Stinger Mantis from Jedi Fallen Order?
I was a little surprised they never did any Fallen Order sets. I can think of at least four off the top of my head that would have been at least plausible: - 2nd Sister TIE Interceptor (would Ninth's TIE Reaper be too big? They've never done a Reaper before, but they made the R1 TIE Striker huge) - Mantis (playset scale, but if it seats three that's Cal, Cere, and Greez anyway) - Purge Trooper battlepack (would they have to rename Purge Troopers? I dunno.) - large-scale BD-1 (heck, UCS could have been legit lifesize)
Good suggestions. I'm also surprised and disappointed that LEGO didn't make any sets from the game when they've made sets from stuff that was lesser known or not as well done. At the very least, they should have made a Striker Mantis set with a decent bit of interior and that awesome rotating wing section with the three main characters and maybe a stormtrooper or Trilla fig. edit: According to Wikipedia, "In an interview conducted by the LEGO enthusiast group, Brickset, LEGO designers Jens Kronovold Frederiksen and Micheal Lee Stockwell stated that the Lego Star Wars group had discussed sets for the game, but they were ultimately scrapped because the team was wary about game ratings." Well, the game did well, and it's never too late. I'd be quite happy if they rolled out a Striker Mantis sometime next year.
On one hand, I'm kinda glad Lego is basing this set off the original Sonic 1 game but at the same time their Dr. Eggman/Robotnik build looks inferior when compared to the original Ideas submission. Ah well, here's to hoping they make more Sonic sets with Tails and Knuckles minifigures.
i’m not sure why, but this looks better than the Mario stuff to me. I’m still going to pass, but I do like it.
Huh, is that ratings as in reviews, or ratings as in it was PG13? The latter would be a weird choice considering some of the SW and Overwatch content they've done. Maybe if we ever get a Fallen Order 2... (Never been into the large-scale/UCS droids, but I'd buy the heck out of BD-1. There -are- some really neat MOC versions out there.)
Merry Christmas to me! Though I probably should have paid more attention to the size of this thing when I ordered it.
It has this cool feature that allows it to be wall mounted. I'm debating on putting ours in the living room above the TV and see if people notice it there.
Just thinking out loud, but next year's Star Wars Advent Calendar, you think it should consist on the Book of Boba Fett or Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Got a good haul for Christmas this year, all 3 sets I wanted! Boba Fett's ship, Luke's X-Wing and the Resistance Y-Wing. Can't wait to start building them!
