And to think I sometimes used to buy that much in a single month Edit: Oh yea, this came in yesterday: Twice - Formula Of Love: O+T=<3 Twice released two full length albums this year and they're both in my top 10.
All of Puddles Pity Party's Christmas songs. Also 'Stairway to Gilligan's Island' and 'Its a Heartache'. --Moony
Hmm I have money left over on a gift card. Should I get Green Day's Kerplunk, Poison's Look What the Cat Dragged In, or something else?
My vote is Poison, mostly as a bias of age. I enjoyed Poison when I was young and just getting into my own music, but Green Day broke big when I was already a cynical high-school senior who considered them popular sell-out tripe. Poison are just as bad on that front, I just hadn't discovered my inner insufferable hipster yet. But yeah, that is a good album.
Thanks to a timely amazon gift card, I finally got my damn Famous Monsters CD. I paid way more for it then I would normally want to, which was over $40. But I'm happy, and once it gets into my grubby little hands, I can finally stop bitching. ETA: Yes! 2 of my replacement CDs arrived in the mail. Just one more to ship. Thank you Bull Moose, I'm happy.
Last purchases of the year: Def Leppard - High 'N' Dry Iron Maiden - From Fear To Eternity: Best Of 1990 - 2010 triple pic disc vinyl
Hell yeah! The lid is broken but as long as the CD plays perfectly, or at least really damn good, I'm happy. I don't typically buy used CDs. ETA: It played perfectly, not a single song skipped, stuttered or screwed up.
Up until late last year, I hadn't bought a CD in over a decade, since I kinda went vinyl snob. But records are expensive, and I'm running out of space for them. I got in the habit of selling CDs that I bought record copies of, which made my CD collection much more porous. I've decided to start filling it back in, and here's a sampling of the latest purchases (Archspire was officially the first CD I bought since Animals As Leaders after a Ghost show around 2010 or 2011). Archspire, Avalanches, Blade Killer, Carpenter Brut, Chvrches Crypta, Logic, Infected Mushroom, Nina Boldt, Emma Ruth Rundle w/ Thou She Wants Revenge, $uicideboy$, Tame Impala, Tangerine Dream, Yelawolf
Love those Chvrches and Nina albums. Bought this today: Windir - 1184 double lp Oh yea, I also listed some cds for sale on my sales thread here. Check it out if you want. Link is in my sig.
On this chapter of my goal to acquire all of the songs of Rush on CD I recently got one of the only options for a compilation album of their later work: Retrospective III (1989-2007) CD/DVD digipak. Was looking forward to listening to some highlights to hype me up for getting the albums featured, & both discs did not disappoint! I posted some songs in the "What are you listening to?" thread yesterday: What are you listening to?0
man that retrospective is spicy! presto is my least favorite rush album generally, but man if counterparts isn’t one of their most underrated, gnarly album. i went on a mad quest collect all the rush stuff too. in high school i copped all their studio/live albums (and bootlegs lol i was hungry) and after graduating i got into vinyl so i have original pressings of the self titled thru hold your fire. it’s a lifelong quest to collect all their songs really. rush rule oh my latest music purchase was cd copies of the all american rejects’ self titled and move along. move along was signed by the band and i got it for $2 at a thrift store. fuckin sick
I've got all the remastered cd versions as well as the anniversary editions. All the albums were released on cd a few years back in 3 box sets called Sector's 1,2 and 3. They are out of print now, but you should try to network on some of the fan sites and try to get them if you want. I know there's supposes to be a Moving Pictures anniversary edition out soon.
Thanks guys! I've found that a lot of Rush albums grow on me over time, Presto & Roll the Bones particularly. The songs from Counterparts & Snakes and Arrows are hyping me up to get those albums. And thanks for bringing up the box sets & anniversary eds but I might be too far in individual releases for those; though I did get Hemispheres 40th ann. & it's live cd blew me away! Here's my collection so far: Rush Remastered CDs: Rush, Fly By Night, 2112 (1st album I ever bought & my user name # origin), All the World's a Stage, A Farewell to Kings, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, & Signals. Standard OG CD releases: Caress of Steel, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, A Show of Hands, Presto, Roll the Bones, & Vapor Trails '02. Compilations: Chronicles 2CD jewel case & Retrospective III CD/DVD digipak. (Most likely not getting any others) & also Hemispheres 40th anniversary 2CD digipak. I'm in no particular hurry to get them all, though I do look forward to getting all their songs on CD so I can make my own 80 min., roadtrip-worthy mix cds. Already made one for their 1st chapter of albums!
I know Country isn't the most popular genre out there, but it's what I mostly grew up listening to so I've still got a soft spot for some of the artists that were part of my childhood. Found a cassette lot on eBay for around $35 that got me a whole bunch of childhood Country nostalgia with a little Rock mixed in as well!
Got an urge for funk and ordered out some Morris Day & the Time: Ice Cream Castles Which is taking FOREVAR to get here. Man these shipping delays are getting brutal.
