I think its pretty good. Its in line with their other recent prog-leaning albums, particularly The Book Of Souls. A lot of long, drawn out songs that take their time but I feel the listening experience is rewarding and it feels like they took you on a journey. Some people don't seem to have the patience for that though. It's definitely not something that people hoping for a Piece Of Mind Pt II are going to enjoy.
I've been somewhat obsessed with the band Slugdge lately. I've been a little tight on money, so I went with the cassette box set to complete the discography (already have Esoteric Malacology on cassette and vinyl). Posed with my other nod to archaic technology; the morning newspaper!
I didn't even realize it, but clearly I've been giving the ladies their due with my last few music purchases;
Been buying a bunch of tapes lately: Iron Maiden - The X Factor Iron Maiden - A Real Dead One Iron Maiden - A Real Live One Iron Maiden - Live After Death Iron Maiden - Maiden Japan Triumph - Allied Powers I already own most of Maiden's extended discography on both cd and vinyl, so I guess I'm gonna add a bunch of tapes to the collection as well. I have Killers, Seventh Son and Fear Of The Dark coming in soon as well. Also finally got the new Helloween album.
I've really been getting back into buying tapes myself, definitely more affordable than vinyl! Plus, I've got an assortment of old Walkmans that still work great, and as much as everyone cries "hipster" when I've got a cassette player on my belt, there's something nice about leaving the house with a couple of albums in your pocket, vs. the entirety of all human music on a modern device. To me, it's a chance to be with the music you have with you, rather than the constant distraction of the infinite other things you could be listening to. And for all the flak the medium gets, I can say with certainty they sound better than my iPod ever did (even most of my 30+ year old tapes).

I just can't find Famous Monsters for a decent price. Why out of every Misfits CD is this the only one that's overpriced when I can grab any other CD for $22 and under? What the hell internet? I'm frustrated. I give up. I decided to replace my scratched American Psycho CD and Heavy Metal movie soundtrack.
Most recently: Iron Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (tape) Helloween - The Dark Ride Tower - Shock To The System + extras the guitarist threw in
7th Son of a 7th Son was my first Iron Maiden tape way back in the day. I still remember having to ask the clerk to open up the case so I could buy it, then riding my bike home as fast as my legs would carry me and burying myself in my room to listen to it over and over while reading the lyrics. What a fantastic album that STILL tickles me all these years later.
I can second (or third or fourth) the sentiments on Seventh Son, was also my first Maiden album, will always hold a special place in my metal heart. To think, I pretty much gave the CD away when I found a reasonably priced copy of the record. Of course, my record skips on Die Monster Die, so that pretty much serves me right. But yeah, that's an album ya gotta pretty much wait for represses of, unless you're keen on parting with a whole lotta coin.

So, thanks to this thread I went to Amazon yesterday to check prices on the original release of Seventh Son of a Seventh Son on CD. There were seven left. I took it as a sign and ordered it. Too funny.
