The new chest piece and legs are the major changes. If you have loads of Trivers or verseriser suits then this makes more sense. Otherwise it is really up to the completist/ army builder in you.
New Gamma Versaulter tweet with a cool animation… https://twitter.com/diaclone_log/status/1472763688171966467?s=21
I guess I could either just stick with Destroyer, or try to sell it and go with the new one... That is a pretty cool transformation
Lol you should track your time and invoice TTM for all the update work which you’ve been providing on the Versaulter on this forum…
I picked up a Destroyer about 6 months back (for more ¥ than I care to admit) but never had a chance to really spend time with it. Then they announced the new one so I’ve been holding off on messing with my Destroyer. This will be my first experience with BP, and based than that I’ll decide what to do with Destroyer (add it in or part with it to fund future releases). At this stage, it doesn’t seem like second market prices are really impacted by the new release (they dropped about ¥5000-10000 for a couple weeks after the announcement but climbed back up already) but they will probably drop a bit while the new one is more easily available. I’m sure they’ll go back up again (unless TT announces a “shadow” version of the new one) so if you’re thinking of selling it might be smarter to wait a few months. On the flip side, anyone who wanted one of the older BP models, January-February might be a good chance to nab one with a temporary price drop. * Disclaimer: This investment advice is purely for entertainment purposes
Another reason the various BP units likely retain their value so well is that each one changes up their accessories ever so slightly rather than being just a straight recolor. Diaclone fans really love their accessories. I would have loved a verse verson of BP in Destroyer colors vs. the brand new dark navy blue they introduced. It doesn't look bad per se but it is the only one to use this scheme so far and we already had 3-4 competing color groups. Did we really need a 5th? (eg. Hero, Shadow, Cosmo Marine, White Moon, etc ...)
Guys, one of my imports in my country is offering Battle Buffalo for $160! MISB! Owner claims that it is warehouse find…do I buy it? Are there any issues I should be aware of?
If you have the money, I think it would be worth it just for the resale value alone. If you missed it the first time around and have been looking to add it to your collection, then it is a steal!
Joints are tight on Battle Buffalo, specifically the arms/wrists/elbows. Just be aware, don't man handle it, you'll be pleased. Strike Buffalo is still my favorite Dia mold. Over here waiting for a third recolor lol
It’s maybe my absolute favorite piece of the entire line. It’s a little dated I guess but still. Fantastic design and presence!
Run, don't walk, to get it. Hands down, the best larger bot of the series to me. Just a solid homage to vintage Diaclone with great parts both together and separate. Only "issues" are if you open it cold (same as all toys) or you are rough or impatient. It takes a minute to figure out correct alignment of claw to wrist before opening to get out hands.
I too have a BP Destroyer that’s been in storage too long. Glad to hear it’s holding value. I agree that opening DA-80 first is probably the better play, since it’s got the higher playability. I got a feeling both will stand well on their own. But I’ll be able to weigh in better in January. As everyone else has said, if you got a shot at a Buffalo, go for it. Short of them VERS-ifying it; I’m not sure if they’ll revisit it for a while. Especially with where they’re going with the VFS frames (tactical movers).
Alternative perspective, it’s fun, but I’d put it at the very bottom of my list when ranking the larger mecha, especially when considering the tightness of the biceps which has resulted in reported breaks and the fragility of the fingers. That 160 could be put towards v-max shadow or something like that which would have more features that are compatible with future releases.
Great in-depth review! The angle it’s shot at is perfect and I like the subtle use of official graphics in the corners. Looking forward to your next vids!
Thanks! Took me a few reviews before I got my lighting correct. I'm definitely getting the bang for the buck by ripping off Takara's graphics. Going to do a Ripper versus Soldier video in the new style as soon as I open two more Rippers. After Christmas I want to do a creative play VMax video showing play combinations of multiple Battle Convoy
