Yeah, that still stings. The fact that this exists and is poorly made is salt in the wound. A sturdy, well-made, fun version of this character could've existed if PX hadn't rushed this project to beat MMC to the market. Because of this, we're stuck with an overengineered, oversized, QC-plagued mess. PX almost won me over to buying this thing because it looks great (seriously, bravo), but I'm glad I waited for the in-hand reports to roll in. I'm hoping an MTMTE version gets made with QC improvements, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well I messed with mine today, and it took me a little while to relize I'm missing a part as well...the thigh guard an the left thigh is missing. I sent a message to TCP.
The last time we saw QC this bad was Xtrans Locke

I've had that thigh cover just fall out during transformation. It's only friction held in place for some reason...

    Mine arrived today.
After hearing numerous reports of joint breakage, I tried some remedies.

The scariest part of mine is shoulder joints. It is consisted of two rachet joints: the shoulder rotation and the move up and dow joint (for transformation). My shoulder rotation not work and looks like stuck in place.

My wife adviced me to use WD40 that laying somewhere in the house.

After twice application this works like charm.

I would urge caution when using WD-40 with plastics:

Can confirm, if you want things to go smoother, transparant shoe polish also works and it won't dissolve any plastic.

Mine also came with an arm broken clean off. I got a replacement part and somewhat to my surprise was able to replace it. Now, after a life and death struggle with the transformation, I have it in dinosaur mode.

This thing is a nightmare. And I have decided I really don't like the batman look in robot mode. And maybe I'm missing a piece or some info but I don't know how the electronics work.

But looking at it in dinosaur mode... it's almost worth it

Makes sense! I missed in the instructions where it says anything about what battery to use, where etc

I tried buying this over the weekend, but TCP’s website wouldn’t take my money. Now I’m glad. I’m definitely out. I hope they re-release it with some major tweaking, or that MMC restarts work on Trux. If not, oh well. What a bummer to Skip something that looks so brilliant, but this is just too expensive a gamble to me.

The instructions don't bother telling you what kind. It's a CR927, your best bet to get one is Amazon or eBay. I grabbed a 5 pack for all of $2 and light change off of eBay. You pop off the dino-scalp, battery holder is on top, put battery in with flat part facing up, swipe magnet in hilt of sword (or presumably the right side of any magnet) over battery area to activate switch and turn the eyes on or off.

In theory. Of all the QC issues people have experienced, I seem to be the only one to get non-functioning electronics. That, said, that's my only major QC issue (through my first transformation anyway), and as QC issues go, it's super easy to replace.

I think I grabbed the batteries to check because of you ending up with dud electronics. It's a tiny piece that's easily replaced, that much is certainly true. Hope you end up with a replacement for it.

Oh, that's fine. We're just going back to the good old days of computer cases requiring a blood sacrifice when you build a new system in them. Totally fine and normal, honest. You should be blessed with far easier transformations now that the beast is appeased.

Funny you mention it, I've built my own PCs since before Intel's Core CPUs had an i in them, but early in 2020 (like, pre-lockdown) I really wanted to replace my then-current PC which was getting a bit long in the tooth. After pricing out parts and what not, I actually wound up buying a pre-built Asus Strix for a lot less. I'm probably paying for that sin.

That'd do it. You angered the PC gods by denying them your blood so they took extreme measures to get it. Although honestly given the absurdity of PC parts prebuilts are far less stupid an idea than they otherwise might be.

Hi guys. I purchased my Planet X Cacus ages ago, as a Christmas gift which I have yet to open (not christmas yet ;) ). I gave my figure the once over when he arrived, moved the joints and looked for broken pieces etc. I planned to ONLY display him in dinosaur mode (the reason I bought him). Do we still think it's a good idea to transform him, given all of the QC issues and comments about the transformation process? I haven't been able to play with mine yet so I'm really hoping he's okay and not hiding a secret QC mess I've not discovered yet :(

Transformation should be fine, especially if you're only doing it once. If anything was going to break it'd break in the process and you'll know it was damaged, at least. Give it a good look over, work the shoulder joints to make sure all 4 (the rotational joints for the shoulder joint itself, plus the shoulders) are working, the knees, maybe silicon shock oil the waist joint if you need it just to make sure it doesn't get weird down the line if you get it back to robot mode, etc. Maybe get your hands on a CR927 battery to make sure the electronics for the eyes work since you'll be keeping it in the mode where that is relevant.

the transformation won't break your figure (unless you horribly mishandle something or it was broken internally beforehand), so all you'd have to look out for is duplicate/missing parts. the screw for one or both of the t-rex arms might be loose but that's as easy as rescrewing it back in.
