Ever since I saw that former Mattel/He-Man marketing guy talk about how somebody brought forum screen shots of fans complaining into a meeting I've been thinking about it.

I generally think it'd be wise for these sorts of companies to keep an 'ear to the ground' on these sorts of things, not just sticking to Twitter and leaving it at that. Obviously not all commentary is worth giving attention to, but at least having a few guys to sift through all the chatter and find the solid nuggets of critique would only be beneficial for them, while not taking up too much time or resources.

Likely once or twice a week. Probably more than that when after a reveal or a new wave hits retail.

I find this issue very interesting, as the people who build toys being on forums is a penetration of the imaginary safeguard. What I mean by this, is that forums is where people are honest, and because people being consumers is based on the ideology of hierarchy - ergo, looking up to - there's a fear factor of interacting with those people responsible for consumer society

Maybe a little. But I think they're far more interested in what's being said on social media, compared to forums like this.

Not sure, maybe some of the employees who were already fans do check in here just to say some stuff for fun.

    Let's test it out.

Yo Hasbro, men's room on 4th floor, near the copier. Last stall needs a new roll of toilet paper. Also, sorry about the clog the other day.

Not very often, otherwise we would've gotten a real Barricade for Siege instead of a black and purple Prowl.

Probably, a bit. Considering this place represents a relatively small portion of the fan base I doubt anything here holds a lot of weight but I’d imagine they’d go anywhere to see what fans are taking about.

We are not shareholders so the only time Hasbro would care what we think would be when they got something to sell ya.

honestly, doubt it; if they did, there might have been some sort of, i dont know, improvement attempts on, well, anything.

Simple answer as I want to be polite here....

Of course they do, any company worth anything has to monitor anything and everything that influences their sales, it's called doing proper analytics and measurements.

They will do it via all platform that has a strong enough presence, and forums are part of social media, so this one, Reddit, Twitter Facebook, and any site that has to do with their products.

In my line of work which is not even about selling anything, we still do such monitoring as everything is about the internet and getting data for all activity that would involve my work place. So there is absolutely no question that a manufacturing company does this. The couple of analytics and such companies that I've had contact with lately, all relates to such activities and discussion concerning other clients they have that are such (merchandise), are a massive part of their clientele, and they all want to see what's out there, what's being said, etc.

Why the hell do any member think that I keep saying that the talk of wanting higher prices is detrimental.

No question about it, Hasbro like all companies, industries, etc. either have a monitoring team or contract it to a sub-contractor for regular reports and feedback.

That said though, how much do they care or value what they see is up to their management.

How much: probably a lot more than you'd expect...

Someone at Hasbro might need to go to a mental asylum if they check Reddit all day.

I'm sure they do, or at least someone at the company has that as part of their duties, but it's important to remember that there's a difference between "checks in on the fandom" and "caters to their every wish (and that's even assuming you think "the fans" agree on anything)". I think it's also tricky for TF given how long the development cycle is. By the time we know about stuff (even including leaks), it's usually far enough along that it can't be changed, at least not substantially.

What if some of us are Hasbro sleeper agents?!

Lol, but seriously I dunno if a multi-million dollar company cars about what a bunch of nerds and geeks talk about on the internet. Unless the word ‘nostalgia’ pops up, because they know that’s a new means of revenue.
