Okay you guys win I'm leaving the thread. This isn't a conversation worth having and I've had a bad enough day already.
I think this one makes it into my MCU top 5. I was worried mixing in the other franchises would get gimmicky but it was really good. Only spoiler I have is this one is going to make a LOT of money.
Spoilers I absolutely LOVED THE MOVIE . but GEEZ why does mcu spiderman have to go through so much ? Iron man , Aunt may , Mj/ned??? I really wonder if he will get back with MJ. Zendaya jus kills the roll and ned was really funny all the time.
Yep, that was my number one favorite part of the movie. One of my biggest complaints with the MCU version of Spider-Man was that he was becoming to big, too fast. The whole public identity thing, constantly relying on the Avengers and their supporting characters, totally high tech and financially stable, etc. I’m not in the camp if “super heroes must always be miserable and never can feel happy” (like those who for some reason insist on continuing the effects of One More Day), I just think they should earn it. Seeing him go back to square one is exactly what I needed to see, and now hopefully he can grow and evolve in his own. And the new suit is kind of symbolic of it. Seeing that he made it himself with that old sewing machine in his crappy apartment was a huge “YES!!” Moment for me. And god, I love that suit. So sparkly. I hope after spoilers are gone we can get a better look at it.
I hope Hot Toys makes one of it . I would so buy it . i agree , it will be interesting to see how he does now on his own . But i love how they are building him up. He is definitely imo , the new face of the MCU.
Knowing Hot Toys expect an announcement of it and two other suits from the off world guests sometime next week or the week after.
Being one of the 86,000 to score the AMC NFT was the icing on the cake. My God this movie was amazing...spectacular...
Thing is that Alfred Molina basically spoiled the multiverse plot point, as he outright stated he was playing the same Doc Ock and that his story picks up from where we left Ock in Spidey 2, prior to that we have no credible or official confirmation that the movie was even a multiverse story, maybe if Alfread had kept that info to himself maybe Sony would've avoided mentioning the multiverse, but it was all for nothing when one of the stars of the movie outright stated the true nature of the film and really up until the trailer, ignoring any kind of rumors/leaks, Alfred's words were the only thing that confirmed that this was a multiverse movie While we know Jaime Foxx and Alfred were in it, one could've just assumed that maybe they were playing the MCU variants of Max and Otto, while Strange presence was eye brow raising, that didnt meant outright this could had been a multiverse movie. Again it was until Alfred spoke that they couldn't hide it no more
Wow, this movie was great. One of the relatively few movies that tries to juggle a lot of stuff, but does so in a way that makes sense and doesn't lose sight of its heart and emotional core. I was concerned about the amount of stuff they seemed to be packing into this movie, but I must say...bravo Marvel and Sony. Spoiler About halfway though, I was seriously wondering if Toby and Andrew would actually show up. I wouldn't put it past Marvel to do some sort of crazy misinformation campaign. Heck, I remember there being theories that Far From Home was a fake movie to hide Endgame spoilers. One of these days Marvel is going to do something that crazy. I loved watching Toby, Andrew, and Tom play off each other. Some of it had an improvised feel, and...if that was the case...it worked well for me. Just three guys chatting about their similarities and differences. There was a lot of screentime devoted to it, but I wanted a lot of it. I didn't go quite as gaga over Into the Spider-Verse as a lot of people did, but I had the same reaction to this as a lot of people had to that movie. It was legit cool to see three Spider-men swinging around together. Seeing these villains back was great. Doc-Ock is the reason I'm a Spider-Man fan, and I loved the dungeon bits where the villains were just chatting with each other. It reminded me of the "Villain Pub" from the How it Should Have Ended" shorts, and I've never really seen that before in a Marvel movie. Seeing Electro done better was also really cool. Doctor Strange is one of my favorite MCU characters, and I love it whenever he pops up in stuff. It was fun to see him and Spider-Man butt heads without either of them being villainized (I suppose Doctor Strange can be considered a bit of an antagonist in this film, but I still totally see his point of view). The fight between him and Spider-Man was something I never knew I wanted. I was legitimately unsure how Spider-Man could go toe-to-toe with the Sorcerer Supreme, but the way he defeated him with his brains was legitimately clever and convincing. Especially since magic in this world is still tied to physics and science. I found the emotional core very strong. Spider-Man, as a franchise, is all about exploring the hardships of being a superhero and challenging Peter. I really felt the weight of what Peter was put though here. And it was nice that this movie had a bittersweet ending. He saved the world, but he lost a lot of stuff that was important to him. That's what Spider-Man is all about. That being said, I honestly didn't really feel that Aunt May's death was that sad, on a personal level. I think part of it is just me not being very attached to this incarnation of the character. I also thought it was a bit awkwardly handled, maybe in the editing. I do appreciate the weight it brought to the story though, and liked how it mirrored Uncle Ben's death from the other series. For me the real heartbreaking aspect was MJ forgetting Peter, and Peter realizing what they had before is over. A more cliché movie probably would have ended with MJ magically remembering or magically falling in love with him again regardless of memories (which is what they were teasing)....but nope, that's not how relationships work. It was a unique twist that I've never really seen before in a movie, and was really heartbreaking when you stop to think about it. Reflecting back on the trilogy as a whole, I think it was really solid. Each movie has been insanely creative, and gradually challenged Peter more and more. They've had great villains and unique stories. With the benefit of hindsight, I think I'd rank Far From Home as the weakest, just by virtue of it being a bit less memorable to me. I'm undecided on whether I like this or Homecoming more. They're two sides of the same coin...I love the creativity and challenges of this movie, but I also like the small-scale school movie vibe of Homecoming. I guess time will tell which one I like more. It's an accomplishment that they finally completed a Spider-Man trilogy where every installment is great. Bring on the next trilogy!
Just saw NWH, and honestly, it was the perfect Spider-Man movie. I had my concerns that it might end up a little overstuffed, but it was really well executed. Spoiler So yes, Tobey and Andrew are in it, so I'm gonna need figures of them along with the villains. But honestly, the real standout for me was that awesome new suit Tom had at the end. Might be a little early to see figures of that, but damn. The blue and red being back feels amazing.
Thats why i now avoid speculation and Theories as much as possible now with movies. I learned my lesson the Hard way when i got so hyped over the Last Knight. I was so excited because i had all these theories in my head of what could possibly happen thanks to social media , and then for virtually none of them to come to light ? Super disappointing. Especially with Marvel where I don’t know anything about the comics and the MCU is what made me a fan , it’s so much better and enjoyable that way.
ah, but he didn't battle Spoiler the Sorcerer Supreme, as it was stated Wong got that nod due to Strange being gone for five years!
that's pretty much the dilemma of every comicbook hero though...you have them grow, however incrementally slowly, but you end up getting stuck at a certain point where you have to acknowledge, well if he gets married and has a kid and the kid is walking and talking and now how long has he been a hero? 10 years? 20 years? Inevitably they make the call to go back to basics, back to the roots of the character... DC married Superman and Lois, they had a kid and DC sort of walked back everything when they rebooted with new52 but then sort of unrebooted some stuff with Rebirth and got them married and parents again...so it can be pretty cyclical depending on the editors in charge... at some point...perhaps many many years from now, there will be a new Iron Man movie...maybe to take advantage of the multiverse angle the MCU is going through or maybe to reboot a flagging MCU...
ok, so someone (who's seen it), help me understand... Spoiler The returning characters all have to be from different individual instances of a universe, correct? In Raimi Spider-Man's universe, Green Goblin and Doc Ock are dead, right? So they had to come from different versions. And Doc Ock was de-aged, and said that Norman Osborn was dead, so they also can't be from the same universe, right? It would also explain why Electro looked different, but Lizard still recognized him. I assume this is the same thing we're doing with Daredevil. The MCU's version is a different instance than the Netflix version.
