Pics from Mecha Alliance on Facebook. Maybe the HI METAL R VF-0 has retractable landing gear instead of swappable? Looks like the doors are on hinges and at close to 1/100 scale, this VF-0S might be physically big enough to accommodate retractable gear. Don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up but this would be cool if this is actually the case. Usually landing gear doors on HI METAL R landing gear that are lowered, are molded with the landing gear themselves.
What does renewed mean to them? Terms being renegotiated to include international distribution or is their license expiring?
No international export, Japan only. Mommar on MW just commented on it. No further comment from Arcadia.
Certainly looks like hinged doors for the landing gear. At 1/100 this thing will be close to the size of a 1/60 VF-1, which should be plenty of room for retractable gear. Another possibility is the doors are hinged to allow the landing gear parts to be inserted, and not have to keep track of separate cover parts. Not the best option but I suppose an improvement over the current standard.
At the very least it’s showing that Arcadia wants to bring stuff over and is trying to I was thinking that could be the case as well but at the same time, also thinking it would’ve been cleaner visually to not have the hinges(since they’re visible when closed…with this being the primary reason why I think Bandai opted for swappable gear aside from the smaller scale). Hopefully we see if the gear are retractable or not soon. I’m pretty excited for this VF-0.
I think Hasbro can do it. Only because HG's lawsuit against Hasbro was dismissed with prejudice. Usually that means that HG can't try to sue them again about it. At least not for using the color scheme on a similar design. So Hasbro *might* be able to get away with licensing an Arcadia 1S as a "masterpiece edition" G1 Jetfire toy. Maybe.
This would be such a bizarre outcome and I’d love every minute of the sheer insanity of that licensing agreement. I don’t see them bothering with it though. We’ve gotten classics jetfire and generations jetfire, and the latest one which is skewed far more cartoon than the other two. I’d bet an MP jetfire would be like the WFC design. with the announcement that 3Z is now doing a VF-1, my guess is that US releases of VF-1 figures will be through companies that HG licensed for Robotech, and the Bandai and Arcadia VF-1 figures don’t get a worldwide license. Everything else seems likely though.
I just noticed today that last year Funko put out a Transformers Pop of Jetfire and it is of the toy design. I noticed on the box that it seems to only have the Hasbro logo as a licensor. Didn't see HG on it. I am curious if this kind of scenario will play out with Jada if they ever do that diecast Nano Hollywood Rides toy of Jetfire? I sure hope they actually release it someday.
My gut tells me that within 5 years Disney will own Hasbro and then take care of Harmony Gold. Then things will fall in line after that.
The part of me that was tired of VF-1 toys died recently so I should really be able enjoy this reveal.
Harmony Gold is mostly just a real estate company that happens to own the rights to some anime and milk them for money every so often. Disney wouldn't bother, honestly.
Looking forward to seeing what Threezero brings to the table. If it really is transformable then I just might have to get one. Especially with it being the 1J.
the BANDAI DX makes for a decidedly tough act to follow, -IMO- but... We shall See when we shall See...
