Has anyone successfully painted the face on this figure?

I was considering going over it with a super thin layer of Tamiya gray; to lessen that metallic silver look he currently has.

I see everyone's Rodimus has his chest flushed to the waist while mine just floats above: I can't for the life of me, figure out where I went wrong....

Thanks! I do think it really makes this figure look 100%, with just a slight face paint change.

So yeah, you can remove the screw in the back of his head and split it in half.

The blue eyes will stay on the back half of the head, and the silver face and front of the red helmet will be on the front part.

Since the face is recessed slightly into the head, any tiny paint brush will easily get to the face part without worry of touching the red helmet.

Also, since there are no eyes to worry about (just two holes) you can paint freely as well

I just use a sharpened toothpick to scrape off any mistakes or excess I might have.

I'd also recommend using a good self leveling paint, like Tamiya, and go with super light coats in layers.

You need to snap that chest piece into place prior to attaching that assembly to the backpack.

It's a PAIN in the arse. Lol

I love this figure so much and he deserves to be commander class imo. I mean, it's quite a statement from Hasbro to give him a better toy than OP (which is a good one too) and with it, the recognition he finally deserved
Maybe he can lead the Autobots one day again in some media, I would be all in for it

I gave him G1 Hot Rods gun, as he had it in the cartoon and it even can hold blast effects  

 

Great looking bot, bags of character.
The vehicle mode however still disappoints me that they went with a seperate car at the expense of the overall truck mode and the truck mode I did get can't even hold it's trailer shut, guess it stays in bot mode - so close.

Those are Tamiya paints. The specific colors are the X numbers on the label.

 

Toyhax released their decal set for Kingdom Rodimus Prime. $30 for the set, that's a chunk of change. I've attached some photos. More photos on their site.

decided to paint the face gray and I'm really happy with it, also I found his long weapon to be unwieldy so I snipped it in two and added a barrel to the back gun and after a quick coat of paint I'm pretty happy with the result.

 

The window highlights are definitely an improvement.

 

How much for just sticker #27?  

 

Sure, those are Tamiya.

Between the wheels, the flame stickers, the front of the trailer....they really did this figure right, eh?

 

Damn..my boy looks good with a new coat of face paint. Credit to member @Wheehs for the assist in helping to repaint mine. As I didn't have enough confidence to do it on my own lol

 

Got this on an Amazon sale for something like $60.
Fantastic figure but I still think I overplayed. His trailer and additional items are all but worthless to me.
But the Rodimus figure itself epitomizes excellence in design and engineering. THIS is what I want in my TF figures.
Ironic since a character that I have the least interest in is one of the better figures I have.
