I think they looked better before. They (sunstreaker/prowl) kinda look like minicons...I thought Streaker was Primes Minicon from Armada....but it probably wont stop me from getting them...

Classiverse seems the line to produce the ultimate in fickle behavior.

Original announcement + concept art - "OMG Classics back! I know it'll be perfect!"

badly transformed club photos - "Holy crap these are terrible! So much for Classics 2!"

Properly-done photos of gray protos - "OMG best line evar!"

NY Toyfair pictures - "Why's Galvatron so tiny and Powerglide so huge? Ruined forever!"

More unflattering test shot pics - "They look like crap again, so they must be crap ... again!"

Gotta love the interent fan community. Lets just get these damn things on shelves already, so people can have an actual opinion based on their own experience.

Yeah, I can't fathom all the complaining. And the fact that people are thinking that one that the windows on the Classics 2.0 figurs are opaque (and not translucent - they're translucent) and two why people would ever like opaque windows over translucent (as some posters have said). It boggles the mind.

While the photos of the new Universe figures aren't flatering, they don't ruin the figures for me. The only thing I currently don't like about any of them, is Prowl's light bar, but even that isn't a big enough problem to stop me from buying him when he comes out. No interest here in the Botcon stuff, though there are some interesting peices coming from it this year.

    Prowl's pure love, honey! ;)

Oops! Not forgetting Nightbeat too. Would be great if he comes with a Headmaster driver like his G1 counterpart.

I must be looking at different pictures of the 2.0 figures than some of you guys; mildly mistranformed (moreso Prowl) and they're not airbrushed like the promo pics (which still had paint apps that looked far shittier than these, despite being touched up) and Tankor has some spectacularly bad lighting but I don't see anything there that makes the figures themselves look bad. Is it the sudden revelation that "hey, these are going to be made from plastic" (like most other modern TFs) that is causing the problem?
Anyways, aside from concerns over window tint, Prowl and Streaker look like they're going to be excellent figures (and what I can see peeking out from the shadows of Tankor looks like he'll be pretty neat too).

Word. Only time I think translucent windows are better is if there's actually enough room to have a realistic interior visible inside (like on Movie Jazz or the Alternators).

To attempt to clear things up: Prowl and SS are colored plastic in these shots, as they will be in the final toy.
Prowl and SS were painted resin in the Toyfair photos.

Yellow and White plastic looks translucent and "plastic-y". That's why these look cheap. Buy a can of yellow and white spray paint and stop complaining. :D

Also: All of you people on the "painted windows" side are nuts. Gimme clear windows no matter what is showing through.

Prowl and SS both use transparent (albeit tinted) plastic for the windows (excluding Prowl's rear window, which is evidently white plastic painted black... the resin protos had clear plastic for the windows (you can't paint something to make it "clear"), and there are Toyfair pics that show them from proper angles where you can see (vaguely visible) things through them. The pic of Prolw in bot mode in this thread, if you look at the edges of the windows (conveniently turned towards the camera) you can see from the edge that they are cast in translucent plastic (looks gray, which doesn't appear to be a plastic color used anywhere else on the mold).
If need be, I'll post the Toyfair pics (and resin proto pics) that illustrate this, but unless the final figures will be different from everything we've seen thus far, the windows (again, excluding Prowl's rear window, which has been opaque right along) have all been tinted transparent (or translucent) plastic.

Eh, figured I'd post pics now just to pre-empt any questions or controversy later:

If you look at the windshield on both, you can see a pair of hinges (likely for the shoulder cannons in bot mode). They're hard to see on the Toyfair pic, but you can definitely see them (the hinge on the car's passenger side being the clearer of the two). They are see through (just evidently really dark).

On Streaker, you can see the details through the windshield on the proto, and if you look closely, those same details (particularly those 2 rectangular holes) can be seen through the windshield at Toy Fair too.

Personally, I love translucent plastic, along with metallic, and all the other types of "special effect" plastic. When it comes to windows, I simply prefer whichever looks better on that particular figure. For example, I think translucent looks better on figures like the Alternators and Binaltech figures. Regardless of the photography quality of these photos, the figures themselves look fine to me. :)

I believe though, that Hasbro did state that Classics 2.0 was to contain realistic forms, and it seems that the dark tinted windows in the Toy Fair photos match up with that train of thought.

I've tended to assume the windows on Prowl and Sunstreaker are/were/will be clear, but tinted perhaps a bit darker than usual to help obscure the (white/yellow) robot bits underneath. That dark, they may appear opaque under certain photographic conditions.

And it wouldn't obscure anything to use colored plastic for Prowl's windshield, because the interior is still visible through the open side windows. I see no reason the window wouldn't be opaque if not clear.

Well, I simply love to be "nuttier" & choose tinted/painted windows. ;)

Definitely liking the Classics lads, even the overly small Octane. Obviously the mistransforming doesn't help, but hell, we've seen what they look like when transformed correctly, so that's not really a problem. I'm pretty indifferent to the Botcon figs really; I don't love the new headsculpts - Jazz is the best, but still not that good - and for some reason I don't really 'feel' Ricochet. I think it's the fact that the paintjob's completely different from what he's had before, and because he's only seen one or two previous releases the character's not ingrained enough with me to be able to survive the change. I think he'd have worked a lot better with a black hull and a flamejob - sort of like Space Marine Legion of the Damned - a dark, brooding feel.
Nightbeat's got a nice paintjob, but I really don't think it and the new head improve the mould enough to justify the presumed asking price.

By the way, I'm a nutter too; unless the fig has an actual interior in vehicle mode, I prefer painted windows - being able to see all the robot parts inside doesn't enhance the feeling of 'quality' to me...
