Mine was perfectly fine for about a year. Then the piece holding the spare tire broke off. So that was either me being ham fisted or it was the plastic. I blamed it on myself, even though I'm very careful. But a few months ago or so, and I hadn't handled my Hound for months before then, all of a sudden there were multiple hairline cracks. It took a long time, but unfortunately my Hound suffered from the same issue in the end. I can't wait for a fixed reissue. Hound looks great in both modes, and he has an easy and fun transformation. Never expected it, but he's in my top five Masterpieces for sure.

Why do you worry about what other people are doing with their money?

Why do you worry about what I'm worried about? Not that I'm worried about anything. If they want to throw money away on something that's damn near guaranteed to break, that's their problem.

Yeah, I don't know what the decay rate is like on samples that have managed to sit this long in sealed packages, intact.

I transformed the HELL out of my Hound in the first week or so without issue. It was only after a month later, having done nothing but stand around did cracks begin to develop. And most of them in low-stress locations, and not on fragile-seeming places like the super tight, super thin leg panels.

I worry about what other people worry about when worrying about my worry problem of other people's worries.

I got the KO for $60 and other then one shoulder being a little loose and one of the bottom alt mode panels not wanting to stay folded (both fixed with a little floor polish). Everything looks good. Even the paint. I wasnt going to pay full price for all the cracks and fractures I've been seeing since release. Ill get a official one if they every get around to fixing it.

Check many, tons, and I mean LOTS of pages back. So many breakages, it’s not even a joke. Let alone Amazon JP reviews will reveal more there. People do deserve empathy. This is one of the best MP’s ever if you don’t include the materials quality.

Please keep us updated and let us know if yours develops any cracks. Many people (including myself) had no problems at first but cracks developed after some time passed. Not necessarily from use, cracks have emerged after Hound just standing on a shelf untouched.

As a filthy CHUG peasant, I do have to ask, why do so many Takara MP collectors keep coming back after all these quality control disasters? I'm not trying to be a bitch, I am genuinely curious.

On all accounts it appear to be a similar situation to the Hasbro release of MP-9 Rodimus. You buy it, you play with it, everything's fine. You put it on a shelf and one day you discover parts are starting to fall off.

It being fine out of the package is quite normal. It being fine the days and weeks after is quite normal. It breaking in pieces after time has gone by...is sadly also quite normal.

What is very strange is that TT is aware of this but have not released a fixed version. Why?

YMMV. Yup! Same boat like mine. It will break. Just pray it's not at the hinges of moving parts/panel.

They don't break in the box or when you mistransform them once.

They also don't cost hundreds of dollars.

For me, it's worth it for the cartoon accuracy. I've been waiting almost 40 years for transforming toys that look exactly like on my beloved cartoon!

Because they're the pinnacle of Transformers engineering and look absolutely incredible (IMO).
There are some QC issues here and there, but Hound really is a unique case. No Masterpiece before or since has had issues like that.
Also, if you buy from Amazon Japan, it is incredibly easy to get a replacement in case you receive a defective product.

You're not filthy... as far as I know. For me it's the aesthetics and articulation. I have no problem getting CHUG transformers or third-party (or KO lately) but neither completely scratches the itch.
