here's hoping DNA go the extra mile like they did with Titan Scorponok. The Ark needs a bit more height IMO, while still needing a few more things to me. I feel like we need the ramps and landing gear to match the ark's orange plastic not that soft grey crap the ark's current landing gear and opening ramps is made out of. Also need a new orange part to replace that gaudy grey piece on top the ship mode that the leg parts are supposed to be able to clip onto but don't (ya'll know the piece) last but not least, we need an entirely new head/neck portion. A neck portion with Ball joint, and of course a head we can attach to said balljointed neck with proper Blue Eyes

Good. I love the Ark but his hands bug me. He looks like he’s trying to pick up jelly beans. The fillers are nice too, definitely appreciated.

I got the DNA DESIGN DK-31 kit pre-ordered from BBTS and I've ordered the Top Cover/Middle Flank from ebay. With these upgrades, I will finally have the Ark I'm proud to own.

 

i am not really sure. but the metro hands are still around but they are pretty expensive these days.

i have an extra set but they will not be retail or 15 bucks more.

 

As much as I like kitbashing/painting my TFs, this whole "Hasbro took shortcuts so if you want something good you're gonna have to shell out $$$ for upgrades" thing is getting pretty annoying.

 

WHere do you get the 5th thruster? The Etsy one?

 

Frankly I enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I too wish Hasbro did some of these things "right" for what we pay, but as someone who isn't a customizer at all, throwing on after market parts, be they injection molded from a company like DNA Design or hilariously overpriced 3D printed gap fillers from Ebay, makes me feel like I am customizing my figure a little. It makes me enjoy it more, maybe even invested a bit more and that my figure is somehow special (even though thousands of people buy these addons).

I think the best example is TR/Legends Fortress Maximus. I have the DNA design kits, stuff from Ebay, stuff from Shapeways, Toyhax stickers. I didn't "make" any of it but the process of deciding what I wanted, what I didn't, then assembling it was a low barrier for entry to feel like my Fortress Maximus, while not quite the works of art we have on Radicons, was somehow a bit more special than any old box off the shelf.

I will say though that the engineering flaws / visual of the Ark are particularly unacceptable though. Hasbro pretty much got it right for the budget they were going for with Scorponok just a year ago, and Omega Supreme the year before that. Adding articulated legs and more shoulder guns to Scorponok is something I wouldn't have expected Hasbro to do. But the Ark doesn't even hold together in any mode, and it's missing the "oomf' that every other baseline Titan class figure had. I'm glad we got it, but Hasbro could have made a better effort.

 

good thing he will forever be in ship mode so i have no need for this. looks cool. I will get one or transform him when someone redoes his stupid looking face. he looks like burt from sesame street. i just can\'t take that face serious lol

That does look good, and if this isn\'t too pricy, I\'d consider getting it.

 

As useless as gap fillers are toys this best and better gap fillers made for toy ever bot mode and ship mode

 

I ended up buying this kit from TFSafari. Hopefully, that connector will hold the two sections together.
