Hasbro: "Add, y'know, a spiritual dimension."

Bob Skir: i dunno, insert some witty comment, that makes him sound dumb, besides his old blog posts where he defended this shit ad nauseum

also none of that explains nightscream's face

I'm not mad they made Rhinox a villain.

I'm frustrated by it because it was poorly written, lacked logical explanation, and was thrown in there without consideration of the character as written to that point. He regains his sanity and decides: Megatron was... right?

It's easy for you to toss around ideas of "people say bad because they don't like it," but you're just moving the goalposts to deny any actual critique.

It's not my quote, but: "Rhinox would not have made that goddamn decision."

Is he a fictional character? Yes. Do new writers often do different things with characters? Yes. Evil Rhinox, of his OWN free will, was poorly or not explained, didn't register with the character's history and characterization. It was a shock for a shock. Wheras Rattrap feeling so useless and insecure, IMO, absolutely tracks and is a logical place to take him. Skir/Isenberg just put Rhinox in there whether or not it made sense, and failed to justify it.

What WAS good writing, IMO, was having BA convinced that Thrust was Silverbolt only for it to be Waspinator. That was a clever twist.

Of course, then it opens up: How did Waspinator get back to Cybertron? Which is easier to kind of gloss over but it's still kind of... wait.

BM doesn't hold up to a lot of scrutiny, and is actively of lesser quality than BW. The voice cast is still good, but the material they're given doesn't alow them to do the same quality of work. The animation is in some senses "better" (shadows!), but it's also so bland, with ugly character models and uninteresting locales. Season 1 is unbearably repetitive in terms of scenes and... god, the story goes nowhere for most of it. I get what they were all going for. The ideas are interesting but poorly explored and executed.

Hasbro wanted spirituality, skir just decided to go as weird as possible without really caring about what it looked like or meant, mainframe for their character designs, hasbro for not even really syncing the toyline up with the series right off. Toyetically, a lot of the Vehicons remain some of my favorite TF toys. Really cool, neat stuff. The maximals were shockingly mediocre outside of a select few.

To all that, though: Enjoy the SHIT out of BM! Do so!

But don't dismiss criticism as "they're just confusing me no like with actual bad".

So how was the convention? No 3P panel? Normally it gets posted on the front page.

    Ebay:
Wow. The audacity. I got most of my pins, but I had to do a chargeback on him because he still owed me some missing pins. What's weird is he spent money to generate a label to ship out the missing pins to me and then never actually shipped them and just stopped responding to me. I contacted him through email, kickstarter, TFW2005. He's just ghosting people.

He stopped being active on the forums about a month ago: DoodlebugPress

Sorry to bump the thread, but apparently Bob Skir was selling the Beast Machines Bible at this convention? Vangelus mentioned this on one of his podcasts.

Did anyone get one? Or does he sell digital copies? I’m having a bit of trouble finding anything on google.
