My DK-23 package was delivered this morning.
Assembling it was such a simple process as well.

I really love the addition of the foam bracket inserts. They really make those ratchet feel so much more solid. (Just imagine had they included tons more of those foam bracket inserts for all the other rachets how solid he'd be)

Once fully installed, photos and vids cant really prepare you for just how much taller he really is when on a computer desk.

He really looks and feels like a brand new figure.

The add-ons all together make a solid feeling beast of a figure, even more impressive and amazing. This is what Scorponok should have always been. When I was a child this was how I saw the old G1 Scorponok in my child eyes. But as an adult, it blows my mind.

I'm sure others have said it, but I just wish they made entire new leg shins instead of making it accommodate the crappy ER ones. Same feeling about it's shield too.
Looking forward to this for Black Zarak regardless

How does the tail fit in scorpion mode with the DK-23 kit? I've been worried the extra length would mess with the tail.

Fits great actually. I like how when I keep the grey part in the weapon it can just rest on the back there with zero issue.

For me, the one thing he's really missing now is some fillers for his tail armature when it's folded up on his back.

I am really obsessed with this guy, even though I only collect Combiners. But Scorponok/Black Zarak were Combiner-sized in a couple different iterations, so maybe that’s it. Plus, he’s the coolest looking city-bot to me.

I started out just wanting those leg fillers, and a set of battleship cannons- so I just wanted one set. Then realized I HAD to have the damned shield, because it was the whole point in Headmasters.lol Then they announced the leg extensions. Those finally got here last week, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I ordered the printed face and mount, the neck piece, and I’m waiting for the new larger shield pincers to become available.

But I got impatient, and machined my own;)  I’d rather do them in aluminum, but decided my job was safer if I just did a quick set in PVC.lol

Can’t wait for Black Zarak to arrive, so I can start the inevitable rabbit hole all over again!lol

Lol! Yeah, every time I see those Jada Nano Rides, I gotta grab one. Problem is, I’m ending up with a damn GIJoe motor pool.lol

Btw, this is the pincer upgrade I was talking about. There are two listings on eBay by the same seller in China, but they are both pre-sales.

Okay, now that is nice. Would love to see it with DNA Designs’ shield upgrade as well!

Don't you need to heat up the prongs before slotting them in or something?

That's pretty sus, as the kids would say...

Geez what a beast. Your computer wallpaper and the colour tone on your photo is perfect. So vibrant and loud I think it's the perfect way to show off him off.

I installed the leg set today and I think the proportions are fine. I think angling claws down a little helps offset the arms which are only very slightly too short now.

I have the gun set incoming and I said to myself I wont be getting the Scorpion legs because I dont want to spend $300aud on upgrades but these photos look incredible.

    General Upgrade Kits Thread

ZX Studio apparently recommends you heat up the 3D printed replacements before slotting them in.

Ok, that does actually make sense, now that I think about it. Since printed stuff is more brittle, it’s probably necessary to soften it. I was only thinking in terms of design. Heating it, made me think of something like fitting a vinyl Xplus Godzilla tail.

Thigh extensions are a must imo. He's a beautiful bot. Very aesthetically proportionate and much better looking than Fort Max.

While installing the new scorpion legs I noticed when tabbing the grey tab into the back of Scorponok it caused some minor stress marks running into the holes. The DK kit grey tabs are slightly thicker than the originals so keep that in mind when installing them. I don't see any cracking or stress going through to the other side, but this is something to be aware of.

It'll be a faff but I might transplant just the legs and keep the stock parts.

TR Fort Max sure, but he was always the cheapo version. The Legends Fortress Maximus with all the upgrades, is the real deal. And he's epic.
