yknow we were joking about this being combiner wars 2 but now that title is kinda fitting: 4 bots that are pretty g1 accurate with minor differences and then just one random as hell change to one bot (doesn’t mean I hated the changes I loved rook, off-road, and alpha bravo)

I don't think that's what people are upset about here. They're bothered by the fact that the rest of the team is clearly G1 inspired with minor alterations then there's just Breakdown who's completely different. Like sorry but TFP Breakdown's truck doesn't hold a candle to his classic Countach alt.

 

I don't know, RID Motormaster is pretty different from G1 Motormaster.

 

I said this once and I'll say it again.

 

He only said there was a slight RID15 reference in his deco, plus Apollux would've mentioned any huge changes previously.

 

Agreed very strange. Seems a bit strange to have a mensor that's supposed to be very cartoon like to having a random member - i definitely agree that this is a similar situation to the offroad / alpha bravo scenario, I mean Breakdown could likely just be a retool of one of the others. Its also bizarre if the development team are fans of Prime, why they'd push breakdown this way... As people have said he's Bulkhead's rival, you'd expect him to get a voyager at least, and I would have thought they'd want to do something better as the original version didn't get released in the US /UK. And then they could have attempted to wangle an energon ironhide retool. I would imagine given the fact that they've been trying and continue to try to do mostly cartoon accurate versions of all the characters (e.g. Skids, Kickback, Blaster etc) that they wont leave Menasor looking incomplete.

 

Same. It's so odd they can't do two separate Breakdowns and try to get a more balanced aesthetic out of Prime Breakdown.

 

Breakdown being from Prime is pointless, it's pointless for fans of Prime because he will be too cheap/ too small and not accurate to his design and for geewunners it's not an exact replicate of his G1 animation so it's no good for them. Therefore it's a worthless for everyone.

Then in a year they re-release the G1 accurate version as an overpriced exclusive, meanwhile Prime fans never get an accurate toy released.

 

So...just this again?


Like, this just doesn't make sense - at least the random additions of Alpha Bravo, Offroad, and whoever the substitute for Groove was (the guy they retooled into Swindle) back in CW were wholly new characters whose alt. modes more or less allowed them to fit in with their respective teams.

But TFP Breakdown replacing G1 Breakdown on an otherwise largely faithful G1 Stunticons/Menasor? Who even wanted this? It's a poor representation of TFP Breakdown who was a big guy and yet they'll make this new one a deluxe(that's why he was a Voyager after all) and ultimately it's a non-zero possibility Hasbro's going to pull the same stunt they did with CW and release a 'correct' Breakdown later at an inflated price.

I feel like this is Hasbro gravely misreading the reasons why people were so hype about TFP Breakdown finally getting a release through pulse. People wanted him to complete their lineups, they didn't want him outright replacing an existing character on a combiner team for no reason!

Suffice to say this ensures I will not be replacing my CW Sunticons team anytime soon. I'll wait to see how Menasor 2.0 looks as otherwise it sounds faithful enough with some new variations that if I like what I see, I can just relegate Faux-Breakdown to leg day duty so he's out of sight and out of mind.

I disagree with this, if only because the original Arms Micron Breakdown is insanely accurate, the only thing he doesn't do is shift the rear wheels inside his legs. A new TFP Breakdown simply isn't needed.

 

Honestly I don’t mind that they’re making huge changes. That being said G1 Breakdown is my favourite Stunticon and the only one I’d like to be G1 accurate…

If they were so eager to change things up then how come Dragstrip couldn’t have taking some Animated clues, like a Cybertronian alt mode?

 

I feel that this is a Siege Cybertronian mode/Earthrise earth mode situation; dupe everyone into buying them all to get the complete Legacy Menasor, then a year later saying "btw, here's exclusive G1 Breakdown & a larger class Prime Breakdown lol".

The idea behind a multiversal Menasor is a pretty neat concept, just not what the majority of people want I feel. Honestly though, I just feel really bad for the Prime fans. I would have thought they would have learned from CW not to just shoehorn a character into a combiner limb.

 

I do feel that's the sort of question that may have a clearer answer once we see the full team revealed. I imagine they'll look cohesive in ways that don't come through in the decryptions we've seen. Or maybe they will be an atrocious shit storm. I'm keen to see more before I make any definitive statements on how well I think it all works.

Drag Strip should have been Animated Drag Strip if nothing changes from now till release of the team.
