Well, I'm sure the "official" version will be better since it will be injected molded and not 3D Printed. But overall seems to be the same design approach.

 

Will do, I ordered the screws and they will be here monday. I'll post pics of the originals vs new and the inside of the arm.

 

Need some advice, not sure if this is the place to ask but here we go. I ordered DS-001 from TFDirect back in Aug and it's been stuck and returned to sender. TFD sent it out again via Chinapost again (even after I requested for another shipper) and now it's still stuck in shipping limbo. Don't think I can file for Paypal dispute since it's shipped. Not sure what I can do at this point. Any pointers?

 

Try to file a PayPal dispute and see what they say. But what are you going to do if you successfully file the dispute and then the figure eventually arrives?

 

I ordered mine from TFD.
Same thing happened. It got returned 3 times before customs in China let it through.
U can tell because it gets shipped at customs but gets returned 2 days later.

Anyway, long story short, on the 3rd attempt it made it out of china and into my hands, only after 3 short monthsof waiting. !!

Not necessarily any fault from TFD, but more a COVIF issue that was halting alot of shipments in the past few months.

Things have gotten better.

I'd personally wait, because itll eventually come, but it's all how much patience you have.
Like I said, mine arrived after 3 months.

So shipped Sept, and finally arrived, last week of Nov.

The kit includes a hand adapter, (1) cannon, a short burst blast effect (like the reference image from cartoon) and a adapter plug for the figure’s missile.

The cannon can be swaps out either (2 different styles) the round or square cone. If you already own my null ray effects you can reuse them…..flip and attach the missile to the base for a long missile effect.

The color is a dark gray metallic.
I’ll likely have it ready to roll-out when DS-01 SW gets release.

 

Mine arrived today, love him. He's ace. If the paint were glossier on the red i think he'd be pretty perfect. Just goes to show you don't need to fanstoys the price for a fantastic figure.

I took the official out of my detolf and be just “melted” in my hands. Flopped back and forth (due to those amazing knee ratchets).

It just goes to show you how many people will accept a product because of the name on the box.

Separately, I received the replacement screws for DS-01 shoulders today (all 1650 of them) and they work perfect! Almost too good actually because with my little 2in long screwdriver (which can't really torque things too tight) as I snugged the screws it pull the shoulder tight enough to lock it up, it didnt even feel like the heads of the screws were bottoming putting pressure on the parts. Here's a pic with all the dimensions. I want to note that when I ordered these, I didn't realize they were fine thread. This bothered me at first but then thought, if this will act like the screws/fasteners in the machine/auto world, fine thread is used in a lot of high torque applications. I used 12mm because I had numerous holes stripped from the factory so I wanted the most thread engagement and the screws went in like butter but nicely locked up when fully bottomed out so they do the job easier and better than the originals. It is clearly visible that the two lower posts are stripped to a bigger diameter and this concerned me but the screws worked flawless.


I got these on Amazon and after seeing they carry so many affordable sets of screws, I will be sourcing an appropriate kit to replace the screws in Constructor after the screw post nightmare that it is.

Another thing I noticed, they used flat head/countersunk screws originally in the shoulders but the pockets for the screw heads are normal for standard screws that have now had a slight countersunk shape pressed in. I did find a kit that's a few more bucks, is flat head style (what a countersink screw is referred to btw), has coarse thread like original, and comes in length sizes up to 12mm also at Amazon.

If you guys are comfortable using Google Translate, Taobao may be an alternative option. Not the best but may prove to be cheaper

 

Thanks for the input. I'll keep waiting but I've cancelled my other preorders w TFD, don't want to risk any more delays w them. Meanwhile, I've received orders from both Bombusbee and ShowZ within 2 weeks.

 

They've definitely taken a turn for the worse lately and I'm not comfortable ordering from them at this point. Everything was great a couple years ago.

Note that second link has screws with a point which will drive into the plastic if too long and split it, there are versions of them without the pointed tips.

 

I used it and it worked perfectly. I just copied and paste from the email. Did you use the correct one for the accessories?

I'm sure they exist but I got tired of looking page after page after page to see repeating listings or some that didnt match at all. Most of these kits dont have screws longer than 6mm so that does no good and the two links i posted were the closest. The problem became this size of screw exceeding 6mm while keeping a 3mm head diameter whether flat head or button head.

Screws with a point can do some quick damage if too long are used, I agree 100% but in this case there would be nothing to worry about because with flat head/countersink screws the measurement given is always the whole screw so 12mm is overall length and the screw posts have more than enough room as I showed in the pic. If it were a worry I would still buy them and hit the tip with a file.

I did start looking for screws at fastener and hardware companies I've used through work and immediately found exact replacements with different length but they were more expensive for a small quantity. Had the differences outweighed the benefits with the kits on Amazon, I would have gone the hardware supplier route.

 

Yeah, that's fair enough, I got a couple orders still with them. I'll probably keep using them for a while see how it goes.
I'm pretty patient so doesn't bother me too much.

 

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but ShowZ is saying Thundercracker will come with the upgrade back piece included with the base figure.
