Just opened and transformed my Reboost...despite having Savant, just ordered MP Skids. I miss these simple, but elegant MPs.

 

HLJ if they still have them. Mine got here in a few days. Would have been less but DHL screwed up.

 

I'm definitely missing your point. MP can do that same pose. The "joint" you bent in the first post isn't meant to be a joint except during transformation. There is a hip joint above the one you're bending.

 

He's talking about his @as being able perpendicular to his back. The last MP that did that was mp-44 and that was because the transformation required it. They've kind of phased it out, because it's rather useless especially when you have full extension of the knee

 

I mean BB 2.0 and SS 2.0 can move his legs back.

 

Having just tried it myself... neither skids or reboost can extend their legs backwards at the hip.

 

That's more than I remember, but none of them can do splits like older Mps.

Kind of confirms why they went the route they did on this.

 

Except that Skids is never going to need to do the splits in either direction to perform his function as a theoretician so it's kind of obvious that TakaraTomy were never going to give the figure that much range of motion if it's completely out of character for Skids to be doing the splits. And Skids also can't do the splits because the figure is meant to fit with the old hybrid aesthetic MPs that started with MP-10 and at most only MP-21 Bumblebee was capable of doing the splits of the figures of that aesthetic.

 

Mp-53 is very well designed, built is solid and well put together.
Frankly speaking, the transformation to robot/car mode is very enjoyable.
Personally, i think Mp-53 is better than Savant. Great figure! 

 

IDW Skids is a master of metallikato, and probably several other martial arts forms. So he probably could use the ability to do the splits. And based on the Legends comics (which are more or less in continuity with Takara's G1), Takara very much does care about his IDW characterization.

 

Except that MP-53 is meant to fit with MPs like MP-10 Optimus Prime, the original MP-12 Sideswipe, and the other early G1 MPs predating the switch to almost total G1 cartoon accuracy and Skids' function at least according to the bio of the original toy is Theoretician and theoreticians don't really have any need to do the splits.

 

IDW Skid's function is theoretician too.

Mine from Anime-Export is sent via Japan Post, and the last status update is from the 2nd of December, when it was at Tokyo International Post Office. Hopefully mine will be here soon too, but it looks like you're winning.
