Toy vs toon (well, the MP and MST are more of an in between idealized representation of the character than an actual toon version).

Hasbro MP (with customized red eyes), Robot Paradise, Magic Square Toys (metallic version), G1 toy (Walmart reissue), and Newage (EX toy deco version).

 

I got this guy in yesterday. I was so impressed with him I bought a second so I can display both looks. I prefer my transformers to lean towards G1 toy looks as much as possible but the toon look for this guy is equally as good.
And with my MINTY G1

 

I'm confused, the price on showz has the tapes at £38 but on kapow they are like £85? Am I missing something?

Both Kapow and Omegalock are priced at £85 total (the Omegalock deposit is £15), although that could conceivably change.

Can anyone do a marvel comics inspired purple digibash with the g1 toy head version?

 

Fore me the die cast heft sets MP apart from chug with their hollow flimsiness. Die cast also makes the part colder, further separating the feel and adding more of a 'premiumness' to it. And die cast in the joints is just straight up better than plastic for longevity. There's also something about my fictional metal robots being made out of metal which satisfies me a lot lol.

Overall, I can't get enough die cast lol

 

Frenzy's G1 box art pose was particularly difficult to pull off. It really made no sense - one leg is bent but they're both meant to be level with the ground? This is how I'ma display my Soundwave - toy shoulders and knees but everything else toon.

Hey so, first of all, why is MP13 a lighter shade of blue on parts of the front of his tape player mode?

Is this lighter close to the color of the whole of Acoustic Wave? I'm thinking of painting my THF version all this color to look more like AW/ the cartoon.

That's how it is on the G1 toy. Why it's like that on the G1 toy I couldn't say.

I'd say AW is half-way between the two shades.

 

On the G1 toy, the lighter areas are stickers. Hasbro has always sucked at color matching. MP-13 is deliberately different colors to homage that detail of the G1 toy. Personally, I love that two tone look and I would prefer all Soundwaves do it but that's just my personal taste. When I tried to make a Soundwave phone case (I mean I guess I succeeded but after it kept losing paint and breaking all the time, I abandoned it), I used two different shades of blue to get that same look.

 

Thanks everyone. I think that lighter color is pretty close to how he looks in the toon, so I'll try to get the rest to match. I really like the look of AW, but I'm glad I didn't spend the money for him. I just need a Soundwave that fits the tapes I already own, but also looks exactly like the cartoon. I'll do my best to make THF SW look like AW, with additional chest door mods as well.

 

Shout out to @transformer_78 for designing the the neck adapter. Edit - This is a test print and still being finalised before release.
