I think it might be possible, if the part went over the existing chest pectorals. It’d extend the chest & might not look great closed, but open it might work.

I've decided to put this on my to do list. I've already got a pauldron and crown model that I'll just need to size up and adjust to fit DS01 and I'll just go ahead and model a new null ray that'll fit under the pauldron. I'll have to figure out the cape - I want to put a wire in it so it's posable. I'm not much of a seamster but a cape is pretty simple so it shouldn't be much trouble. I can print the crown in clear red resin, polish up the gems, and then paint the rest gold (or maybe just print the gems separately so I don't have to mask them off for painting). I'll need to work out the articulation of the pauldrons (so he can raise his arms) and how to attach the cape but that shouldn't be very difficult. Probably just have the cape wrap around the shoulders inside the pauldrons - that way it protects his shoulder paint from getting scuffed.

Has anyone else had tolerance issues with the front hip skirt flaps on their Starscream? I searched the related terms here in this thread but couldn't find anything.

I've tried using spray lubricant and metal files to shave down and loosen the plastic that surrounds the pin -and it has helped a tiny bit- but they're still worryingly stiff to move. Stress marks have already begun to form and I'm hoping someone here might have a fix before it gets any worse.

A solid clip on piece with the chest doors in a fixed open position could work even if the chest was slightly extended. There could even be some kind of plastic smoke effect with the little missile on it (that can be attached to the chest piece) to have it look like Starscream is firing missiles. I doubt we will ever see it but would buy if available.

They have always been very tight and can never move all the way up in one shot but for some reason if I move either til it hits the tight point then drop it a hair then continue up it goes easy again, like a back and forth progression to move them up so I just do that. Haven't seen any stress marks.

I think it's the plastic of the outer edge on the hip skirt that is rubbing too much in the pocket that they mount to so I think if you take them out, that's where to sand for it to make a difference. Make sure to watch where you sand or it could be visible after reinstalling, if you decide to try this.

It's a damn shame that you don't do international shipping, because as a local collectables dealer I can easily order at least ten of almost everything you offer. ...I need to find someone in the EU for this.

@transformer_78, you might want to think about using Etsy. I've had several orders to Canada and they weren't any extra hassle over shipping within the US because Etsy handles the customs stuff if you get your shipping labels through them. Love the new stuff, btw. Not sure why it never occurred to me to make an adapter for MP-11's cape instead of going crazy and sewing my own fabric capes.

Because fabric capes are awesome, especially with wires inside for posing. I wear one everywhere I go for dramatic entrances.

Thanks to TCP’s Black Friday sale (and $20 off rewards coupon), I snagged this guy.

    And …

I hope it doesn’t sound like I am exaggerating, but the official figure (MP-52) feels like a 2017/2018 3P attempt at a Starscream. Maybe something from XTB (ayoo tho - the alt mode looks better… slightly. So there’s a plus for the official).

Also, why does the official figures thumbs suck so ****ing much? Has this even ever been mentioned? Even this guys god damn thumbs/hands are better. This figure also FEELS amazing to handle. Not more “premium” per se, but it just feels better.

Also, I know this hot take has been mentioned over and over again but ..

why is the official so short and fat?

    The end.

Yeah, DS001 feels much more solid in hand!

I had to mess with the tightness of both double elbows on DS but then he behaved like I wanted (upper elbow folding first). Other than that, he's pretty good!

One positive for MP52 - paint - Takaras paint (especially the red) is far superior to DS001 (IMO).

I think DS does almost everything else better than MP52.

I do love a good posable cape. What I don't love is sewing. But if I'm going to put a coronation kit on Etsy, maybe I can subcontract the cape out to my sister once I've got the design finished. She's pretty handy with a sewing machine. Still adapting my 3d models to DS but, since I'll need to make new null rays anyway to get them to fit under the pauldrons, I think I'll take a page from SS-86's book and anchor the pauldrons to the null rays. That way they don't need to clip onto the shoulders potentially scratching the paint.

[Edit] Doh, I misunderstood SS86' design. The pauldron isn't anchored to the null ray. The null ray is anchored to the pauldron. I was trying to figure out how it stayed in the right spot on the shoulder with the pivot way out there but it's because it's the null ray that's pivoting.

Anyone else get the newsletter from ShowZ on these guys with coupon codes? I've only used him once (for this Starscream) and I'm not sure if you can use those codes for preorders you've already placed. I have that Skywarp and Thundercracker preordered so I wasn't sure if you could use those against that existing order or if it was for new ones only.

I haven't gotten the newsletter you're taking about but typically in cases like this, ShowZ will have you cancel your pre-order and place a new one to take advantage of coupons.

    Thanks I’ll take a look.
Yeah the cape hooks turn out to be the simplest method to make the coronation cape work…very straight forward approach.
Plus DS-01 doesn’t have any places to really plug into and you need to worry about the painted surface too. I’m curious how your coronation set turns out. Good luck.

Getting a coupon is always a good thing but in cases where you've preordered the day they went up and the price has since gone up, is it even worth it? Wont you lose the price you're locked in at if you cancel? I'm curious.

I would think so. I wasn't going to mess with cancelling it but figured if you COULD apply it I'd go for it, some places let you add coupon codes as you go into payments but I've used ShowZ only once so wasn't sure if it was an an option on an existing one.

At least its posted here for any one looking to place an order I figured.

Yeah, scratching the paint is a major concern. Still trying to decide exactly how I'm going to avoid that. I might just glue in a few thin pieces of foam. Or have the fabric cape wrap around the inside of the pauldron. For now I'm still working on the crown - the model I have was designed to fit a tiny WizKids figure so everything is extra thick and not very detailed.

The paint on mine doesn't seem that fragile. I left it sitting out for a couple weeks before I transformed it, mainly because I was busy and didn't have time to mess with it. But when I did transform it, I wasn't exactly gentle, and I didn't have any scratches or chips at all. Of course YMMV
