It just so happens that these two guys came in the mail back on Thanksgiving....

I'll likely repurpose that clear Eject coming with Blaster as Rosana or just keep it as a tape in Blaster's chest. But these guys and that pending 3P Raindance set will be a warm welcome to Blaster.

 

Now that you mention it, that new robot cassette mould seems surprisingly close to the PE versions. Pretty good for what basically is an accessory.

 

As nice as these are, I am too disturbed by the fez-wearing gorilla-faced Hot Rod to even notice Blaster...   And the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil Primals.  

 

Is Blaster taller than Soundwave?  

 

Since 1985, yeah, in both toy and cartoon.



Blaster is Optimus Prime height. Soundwave is Seeker height.

 

I'm betting Rewind's gonna be in the eventual Twincast repaint. TC does have the gray and black so yea. That or it could come with an SG blaster, but doubt that

 

Except Kingdom Blaster WAS opened up to preorders pretty much everywhere recently.

 

I just don't like the look of it.

The Shadow King head came with Prof X. The glasses are kinda fragile and I'm afraid they'll get messed up in the parts tub so that head migrates around a lot. It has been on Storm, Buddy Christ, Zombie Captain America...

 

But I do wonder about a Soundwave remold. When the rumors/listings for Blaster first emerged I assumed it would be a cheeky retool of Soundwave, but now it's pretty clear that it's an entirely new mold. A SW retool (opposed to a Netflix repack) would make more sense now, since it means cross-compatibility with cassettes, easy retool of Eject into Rumble (and Frenzy in that single-pack listing we have), etc. Fingers crossed?

It’s confirmed we’re getting a Soundwave rerelease (‘Package Refresh’ as it’s officially called in the business) in Wave 2 of Legacy.

There’s some confusion as to which version it is though, as there is an ‘S’ before it in the listing (making everyone think it’s the Siege mold), however the Earthrise Netflix retool would make much more sense.

We’ll see in the next few months, but he is coming (and has been confirmed above, the cassettes are already cross compatible between the two)

 

The thing is, right. There's really no big difference between the Kingdom and Legacy releases, aside from packaging and what packaging gimmick you're engaging with. The only reason you'd pre-order the Kingdom version at partner sites over waiting for the Legacy release (or the Kingdom one too) to hit retail saturation is because of a valid concern that you might not see that particular version at mass retail, which I honestly understand. Especially since he's a last-waver.

 

Oops, I missed the cross-compatibility post - cool! But wasn't it speculated that "PR" stands for "Prime"? I'd think that would make more sense, given Legacy's first wave characters.

 

Considering a Galvatron PR was also found I don’t think it’s likely to be. But who knows?

 

Cassettes fit each other.

Stream is nightly around 9:30-10pm Eastern, 10:30 on Friday and Saturday. Everyone in the chat is welcome to join in and talk or show off their collection.

My local stores only carry Deluxe and Voyager class. Though sometimes the discount stores get $20 Leaders. I still don't have Slag or any Kingdom Leaders.

 

It was speculated as being Prime Soundwave (I believe one system even inputted it as that at first) but there’s others with the same PR designation throughout Kingdom & Legacy that have been confirmed as Package Refresh.

Wheeljack, Arcee, Galvatron & Blaster either have or are scheduled to be rereleased and all have the same (PR) before them that Soundwave does, and we know they’re just rereleases.

Adding to this, long before Legacy’s listings were found, reliable leakers had admitted the plan was to get Netflix Soundwave back onto shelves again in 2022. I personally think the only reason we won’t see this version of him is if he’s somehow exclusive to Walmart (there’s speculation of that, but at this point who knows?)

Also, we know there are new cassette molds planned anyway, as Rumble is getting a new figure on his own in the Scout class of Studio Series ‘86 at the end of next year.

Considering Rumble’s part of the 4th (final) Wave of 2022’s Studio Series ‘86 line, & probably won’t hit until early 2023, any future cassette molds that are not exclusives will likely not be known for a while yet.
