Clint, at least the MCU version, likes to keep things simple... aside from the trick arrows. Also, what is Clint gonna do? Text Pepper and be all "Hey, your dead hubby gave Rhodes new legs. How about you give me a working ear?" That's... tacky. Besides, let's say things played out the same way and his fancy Stark-tech hearing aid got smashed/damaged in that fight... who the hell is going to fix that on the fly? As for SWORD, after being an agent for SHIELD and what happened with THAT organization, I don't think he'd be so willing to trust anything that came from another organization that rose from SHIELD's ashes. I also don't think there's anything "normal" about that prosthetic. Sure it isn't made out of hard light or shoot rockets, but it's definitely STRONGER than your average prosthetic of that type. Remember, Echo was basically shaming Clint for the hearing aid and relying too much on technology so it'd be completely out of her character to have something crazy advanced up her sleeve... er... pants leg... whatever.
I'm sure the hearing aid would be implanted on him and not fall off. It's odd the show has him basically deaf just from one ear? Can he not hear form the other ear? With that logic Nick Fury shouldn't be able to see but blur objects for this good eye.
That actually tracks. Because sound is a pressure wave rather than EM, if all the explosions and other shock waves were experienced with a bias to one side they'd impact that side more than the other. Anything on the side opposing an explosion would be reflected and therefore dampened and diminished. I had a friend in school & college who was deaf in one ear - if you talked to her from one side, she could hear you fine - from the other side you had to work for it, since pressure effects don't reflect near as well as light / EM.
Yep, exactly as Autoclot says. My mom is deaf on her left side and if you talk to her on that side she can't hear you, but if you speak to her on her right side she can hear you just fine. For a long time, she only had one hearing aid on that left ear, but recently they gave her a second one on her right ear as well because the new hearing aids she got have some neat tech that sends the sounds from her left side to her the hearing aid in her right ear.
Weird coincidence, my friend was deaf on her left side Surround sound hearing aid? Not being similarly affected I can only imagine, but I can't help but think that such a thing is immensely useful.
Yeah, she seems to really like it and was surprised it was something they could do when her doctor suggested it since her insurance would cover it. She certainly hears better with this new system than she did with just a single aid.
I'm fortunate enough to not have been personally affected by such things, but it does terrify me as a future concern - I'm glad your mum has something that helps
Finally some good action and Hawkeye using his arrows like the movie. Also this episode was better, if they can keep it along these lines it will get more interesting.
Yeah, Clint’s kids weren’t onscreen this episode but I’m reminded that they got talented child actors for their parts. They had really great chemistry with Jeremy and he really sells the heartbreak of not being home. He literally would give up the “superhero lifestyle” just to continue to be an uninterrupted family man. That produces nice conflict between Kate and Clint because he doesn’t see himself as a hero or role model and Kate’s frustratingly holding back why she sees him like that. It’ll eventually show up though. Their friendship is growing nicely too. I really dug Echo. Great actor for the part. If we get an onscreen appearance of Fisk, hopefully it’ll just be a super short cameo. Let her shine. They’re probably saving Fisk for her own series and her story of getting away from his control. That action sequence was top notch. The deaf parts were great too. Great middle episode overall.
Maybe my favorite episode yet? Up to the train scene was the fastest 23 minutes ever, I couldn't believe that much time had passed. I teared up at the phone call scene, and I was caught off guard by the cliffhanger ending. Absolutely loving this show so far and hope it keeps the momentum up through the second half. Spoiler That laugh definitely sounded the same as Vincent D'Onofrio.
So which way will it go? Spoiler “That’s Swordsman, my old buddy, I don’t believe he’s sus.” or Spoiler “That scumbag is Swordsman, we gotta go.”
