Sorry if this isn’t news or has been reported, but I found this to be extremely interesting. The animated movie is coming out in April of 2023 ( IIRC we haven’t heard of the month that this movie is coming out in) which is 2 months before RoTB (as confirmed by the director) If this is actually true and the animated movie is coming out in April of 2023, does that mean that RoTB will (hopefully) be moved up by a few months? Because I’m pretty sure that it’s not a really good idea to put out 2 movies 2 months apart from each other.
I don’t think Paramount has any idea what the fuck they are doing right now. They are hemorrhaging money and assets. Big budget action movies(be them live action or CGI) take 2 years to make. While all of the pre-production had seemingly been done, ROTB was announced in what, June? And it’s release date was supposed to be 13 months later? Even if most of the filming was done, post production can take several months itself, especially with all that CGI. I don’t think it was ever possible for ROTB to make it’s July 2022 release date, not with how slowed down everything is right now. But of course, Paramount may have thought it was possible and simply delayed the film another year out of fear of it tanking as a result of people unwilling to venture out into movie theaters just yet(though Spiderman may finally break that.) As for the CGI prequel, if it’s going to come out in early 2023 then it needs to be in active pre-production moving into production right now, because thats only 17 months away. But having the two movies come out months apart is suicide. The common person might like Transformers, but not like they do Marvel where they will see several films in a year. It needs to be pushed back another year to give it breathing room, otherwise it might kill ROTB sales as audiences have no desire to see two Transformers movies a year. All that said, with Hasbro’s partnership with Paramount ending next year(though it can be renewed), and Paramounts current financial woes, I doubt this movie will make it out of pre-production. Hopefully now that Brian Goldner is gone(I don’t mean that in a bad way, he had a major stake in Paramount) Hasbro will explore another option.
It’s possible that Josh was confirming the continued existence of the film and not necessarily the release date. I wouldn’t read too much into the date part.
if they are bleeding money can take commit studio suicide and give me an animated drama movie focusing on 07 bonecrusher's life from cybertron to landing on earth? c'mon pretty paramount give me trash no one wants to me.
I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back as well; it seems Paramount's doing that with everything.
Wasn't this somehow planned for like 16 years now? I recall Don Murphy saying something about this before even the 2007 movie came out.
