nearly all WFC figures have had metallic faces, and yet SS86 figures like Kup, Hot Rod, Blurr, Sweep/Scourge and Gnaw have matt paint on their faces. it would be ridiculous to say that SS86 is just WFC overflow when the toys have been designed and painted differently, Hot Rod and Kup especially would stand out next to WFC voyagers and deluxes, thanks to their transformations.

the far more complicated transformations are probably the result of a higher budget, which is backed up by SS and SS86 retailing for more than WFC in the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe. this pricing is not retailers' decision, Hasbro Pulse themselves does it too.

Studio Series was around before they started putting 1986 movie characters in the line. They chose to put the characters in there, which means they should be following the movie look. They can make up whatever lines they want, they don't have to just throw things in Studio Series.

If Starscream, Grimlock, and Slag were called WFC and Cyclonus was SS86 the aesthetics would make a lot more sense.
