Wow, lots of entitlement going on in this thread. It’s a retailer incentive, a good one at that. That’s it.

 

It's not entitlement to be irritated they're including an iconic look for a character as a bonus from a specific retailer in a repaint of the figure it should have come with to begin with.

 

No, that is EXACTLY what that is.

 

It really isn't, it's just a convenient way to throw aside some possibly excessive but honestly pretty understandable and valid complaints about making you buy from one specific store to get an iconic look component for an entirely different figure when it should have come with that figure to begin with. But you do you boo. Meanwhile I canceled my existing pre-order and ordered it from there after getting live chat to confirm ordering would still get me the bonus head.

 

Fyi guys the broken face head didn't exist as a design until after Pexus had shipped. It was sculpted it as part of Nox's development.

Do keep in mind that Pexus released like 10 or 12 months ago, I honestly forget how long its been but its been a while.

I get the frustration but it literally was completely impossible for mmc to have included it with pexus, it didn't exist until Nox did.

Does however mean if mmc wants to make it more easily available it can be a standard inclusion with the next run of Pexus.

 

The lack of clear communication in regards to this bonus is mostly what annoyed me. It got confirmed this week, the same week that this figure is being released.

I appreciate gesture of the additional head, but when I go the PSX website now, it's still not listed on the Nox product page and we don't know if it is just a first run bonus, or if it will be something included in every purchase of the figure through PSX (unless this is stated somewhere on the PSX website and I missed it, if so I apologise).

Some people here will quickly throw aside my comment as 'entitlement', but knowing what you are getting with your purchase is just something so basic... If I didn't read this forum I wouldn't even have known.

 

I love the retailer incentive (even if it is included with the wrong figure), I don't like that Nox turned into a mystery lootbox. I would have bought Nox from PSX just for the additional Pexus head and then resell the Nox figure itself (I have no desire for a Nemesis Orion Pax), but no solid information means no purchase from my side. /shrug

 

PSX never communicates the bonuses. We only learn about them when the items are received by whoever gets them first. They're not advertised on the site because they're not a selling point of the figure.

 

If this is really the case, then this one of the dumbest things they can do. Do they have a crippling fear of money and success?

PSX will give you a surprise extra essentially for free as a thank you for ordering through them. How rude of them.

 

MMC has never had a problem with selling out product before.

It's pretty rare that the PSX incentive bonus is ever a critical item. Usually it's just a recoloured weapon from a previous figure, or an alternate coloured accessory of something the figure already has.

 

They are slowing down on the reformatted line because the last couple of figures have sold poorly, so this statement is false. Check out the mmc thread for more info if you don’t believe me.

And the incentive items wouldn't help them sell any better.

The product still sells out. The production runs are just smaller to accommodate.

 

MMC came out that they had a few releases that didn't sell well, so yes, that means the production run is smaller because it is partly based on preorders... HOWEVER that still means they lost money as they didn't get enough out of the mold to offset all the costs.

Also, you can bet your bottom dollar that if a popular release (like an Orion Pax) comes with an exclusive bonus head that refers to a pivotal moment in the IDW comics, many collectors will buy from PSX instead of where they'd usually buy.

To make any sort of difference, the mere addition of a desired accessory would have to move, like, double the units.

And again, the prior MO of the PSX exclusives were that the bonus items were not critical. This is one of the rare cases where the bonus is, in fact, a character specific piece. And if it's because they're slowing down on the Reformatted releases, then there weren't many other opportunities to release the Pexus head.


So no, there's no correlation between the success of the Reformatted line and the bonus parts. The decline of the sub-line is more likely due to other extenuating factors, like waning interest in the IDW designs or poor character selection. Or simply lack of internal support, as they begin to see better returns from Ocular Max and such.

And here's the other problem with the exclusives: if they make the bonus parts too desirable, then that undercuts their retailer partners, which will kill their sales margins in return.

So no, the bonuses will never be a major selling point.

 

Honestly, I like the exclusives. I don't order from PSX all the time, but knowing what one might get is pretty good advertisement to get people to order from their shop. It does suck, to a degree, that the head is coming with Nox, but with MMC seeing fan demand it's possible to get the head released seperately, someone just needs to talk to Boss Penguin and see what the man says.

 

Current solutions:
1. Buy Nox from PSX.
1A. Keep both figure and Pexus bd head.
1B. Sell Nox, Keep Pexus bd head.
1C. Sell Pexus head, keep Nox.

2. Don't buy Nox from PSX or at all.
2A. Find someone selling the Pexus BD head.

I know for some people having to do these extra steps is not ideal. Personally I have always gotten my reformatted figures from PSX. If I do decide on getting any extra Nox I'll let you all know.

 

Wait does Nox come with a battle damaged head colored for Pexus or are we just getting that black damaged head for Nox?
