Its a bit like when someone auditions for the x-factor that cant sing a note, and they put it on telly for a cheap laugh

Yeah that what I don’t get too, all of these are supposed to be toys, and yet theres a $150 figure meant to be a collectors item in there. Might as well throw in MP Starscream at that point.

But, if school taught me anything, it’s that awards never go to people who deserve them, and the most popular people will always get them. So who cares.

They sure picked a crappy toy to nominate for best toy vehicle when there were plenty of good ones to choose from. Normally I would vote and support a transformer toy, but not this one. They should have nominated the $700 self transforming and driving Prime robot/vehicle for this. Now that is one of the most impressive toys ever made!

The system is rigged. Whoever invented this toy did a shitty job, but some one they know nominated them anyway over better toys because they want to help their specific career. Just being nominated looks good on a resume.

Support a crappy toy marketed to Grandma's looking to spoil their grandkids, in a rigged nomination contest?

Sure. Just as soon as Hasbro signs my petition to make all TFs talk like Wheelie from here on out. Fair trade, no?

I hope it loses. And not just a little; I hope it loses by embarrassing numbers. :D

Toy vehicle of the year? Are you serious?

I'm still impressed about current Transformers low quality, but to support a cheap hollow plastic syndrome Transformers as toy of the year is beyond me.

    Just select the LEGO Porsche!

See, I don't agree with... huh. Pretty much all of you.

It's for the best 'toy' so the criteria is different to what an adult would desire in a toy (that's why there is an adult toy (ooer) category). Presumably (going by the nominations) it's what the toy does that's important.

Paw Patrol, is meant to reenact the film, now I haven't seen the film, but how successfully does it do that? I assume the bike launch feature happens in the film. Sure, it's a POS to an adult, but what is it to a kid?

The Hot Wheels colour change car... I assume their gimmick is is comes 'blank', put it in water and the top layer melts off revealing a colour change pattern underneath? So it's an evolution on the colour change car formula. Same as the Switch n' Go Dino, it's nothing they've not done before, vehicle to dinosaur with all the features therein. It looks nice but honestly this Jet/Raptor pales in comparison to some of their offerings of years past (R/C car that automatically changes to a Triceratops?! Now I have to see if that got nominated and won years ago.)

Anyway going by that criteria I reckon the Roll and Change Bumblebee is not a bad toy by any means, it's essentially a big One Step, a toy that does what the character does on TV. What matters here, is how well it does that, how easy is it for kids to turn back into a car etc etc.

    *sigh*.

    Flame away.

    No.

And I'm not voting for Lego's overpriced shite either.

This is a great take IMHO, and as always, it's important to have this kind of contextual nuance in mind when considering these things. And ordinarily I'd agree. That said, in this particular case, as someone who has handled the thing, I have to agree w/reviews like this one that suggest it might not be as kid-friendly a gimmick as it seems at first glance.

That was basically my experience with it too. As such it's kind of hard for me to use "it does what it's supposed to do and in a way that's easy for kids" to justify this nomination personally. At least compared to a couple of the competing products. That and the nominations aren't even limited to kids, as there's an 18+ contender alongside it. Personally my vote for the price and age range would go to the Playmobil VW bus in this case.

But that's just my personal take.

I got mine a month ago. It's sitting in the closet waiting for Christmas to surprise my son.
