I literally can't see someone like that lasting for very long in that position unless they not only upgraded themselves to be super powerful but also with a high IQ to back it up.

Since Hasbro pulse fucked up the shipping I've read this already and wow, it's pretty great. Honestly my favorite of the comics so far, but Jetfire's conclusion comic seems like it'll be even more amazing based on where this one left off

 

I thought maybe because he played a role in the Cybertron Velocitron story that he might be genuinely appearing here, but yeah that makes sense.

Also having a titan\'s spark is all nice and good, but how does he intend to build a body for it? And what makes him think the titan will follow him?

Exactly. Megatron kept his position for millions of years not just due to charisma and leadership skills, being a powerful gladiator and having a fusion cannon also helped.
And the less powerful Con leaders, like Ratbat, always had some leverage to ensure their position, in his case, keeping the tabs on all fuel consumption.

 

ok... now I\'m not against IDW losing the license, because The comics have been RUINED. I swear, one of the reasons people loved the IDW transformers comics even if they\'ve never READ them, is the art style! it was unique, different while being loyal to the source material, but now since they\'ve based them off of the toy designs, they\'ve turned this into a toy commercial.nearly every single design, ORIGINAL design, was a near perfect update to the transformers character. after seeing this, I\'m not interested in reading, like I was with the older stuff and MTMTE.

You’re kind of missing the point of an adaptation book. You’re not supposed to take creative liberties on an established character franchise with specific designs. Hasbro has never been shy about letting everybody know that every piece of media around every franchise they own is designed to sell their toys.
So to say you’re pissed off because they are honoring the character designs rather than just taking excessive liberties with the characters kind of defeats the purpose of reading a Transformers book in the first place. The fact that IDW got away with it for as long as it did is enough of an accomplishment.

But even with that said, I would hardly call their current art style “toy accurate“. Especially with their Beast Wars comics.
Liberties are still being taken. Unfortunately not very good ones.

I'm actually really excited for this issue. I love the Headmasters cast so its nice seeing guys like Mindwipe have an actual role in something after eons. I'm looking forward to seeing if Ultra Magnus and Sixshot are going to interact since this would be the first time that they do in western media since...G1? I don't even remember for certain if they had, to be honest.

Might be a symptom of Megatron being a violent, egotistical, madman at the end of the day. I don't think his composed senator self was exactly a facade but I think now that he has immense power and a large following, his worst, most repressed tendencies are beginning to come out. This is the guy who misses the gladiatorial arenas and threw an irrational tantrum over Optimus having spied on him despite all the lies and deceptions that he himself had committed against Optimus.

 

Yeah but MTMTE became way too preachy, and the entire original IDW continuity just became a popcorn fart post-Dark Cybertron. I for one am happy happy happy that we got a reboot, just wish we had top caliber talent doing the writing

Couldn’t stand Milne’s art. Anime and Transformers just don’t mesh well

 

I mostly like the new continuity, but I really wish they'd give the Autobots an actual win. An actual sense that they advanced on the war, rather than "Well it could have been worse." A few issues ago I was hopeful they'd get a combiner, an advantage, or at least counter for Devastator when he gets brought in. Nope, we got a storyline that just sees things get worse with the Sea of Rust getting cracked, but hey at least the Cons didn't get the Enigma right? And now we see Megatron's got a Titanspark. You might want to have the Autobots get a win while it's still something I can buy happening, and also before you lose the liscence.

 

Meanwhile over at the Beast Wars fanhouse people can't get over that the comic doesn't look exactly like the original show and that it also contains two *brand* new characters and one who was in the toyline but not the original show.
