On larger pieces i tend to use filler primer and lots of sanding to eliminate thengrooves. Not sure how itll work on a smaller piece like this though. It doesnt use much plastic to print though so i can mess around and experiment. :)

ill make another post later today or tonorrow with my settings for Cura on here. I definitely want to try printing the head off as one piece like you have shown here though. Im thinking it might make it a bit smoother

    Just an update.
I'm happy how the resin print came out from my trusted printer. The sculpt is already pretty good, but I still did some subtle tweaking for my own preference.
I'm conflicted if I'll repaint the whole figure with the paint I got to be more movie screen-accurate, or save the trouble and just colour match the head with the original purple plastic of the figure. Matching purple is a bit problematic for me though.
Now what it just needs are bigger pointier feet and a taller back spire.
I'm aware there's an upgrade kit available, but it's printed on PLA, and print lines annoy the heck out of me. Maybe @The Madness could whip up something like those. *wink*

    Great job,
Man, I gotta look into finding a (good) 3d printer (that can work with a laptop).

That looks great! The mouth is done so well. Is it bigger at all, or is it just perspective?

I just slightly tamed the lips hahahaha. It's just my preference. I might have played a little with the lip depth.
Also shaved a few micrometers of the chin to make the face slightly more square. Also made the eyes slightly smaller to have gaps from the holes to have a blackened outline effect around the eyes. I also did that to give allowance to the paint thickness.
It's just so very subtle, it's still practically the same as your amazing original sculpt.

It is subtle, sure, but it changes the expression completely. An indicator of great talent. The curving on the top lip makes him look like he can barely contain his anger.

I have no desire to buy the Gens Selects toy recolour Galvs, but your Marvel Comic heads are tempting me to get it.

If you're still doing a batch put me down for a Galvatron version III head as well, because really needs it . I'll watch this thread and any info I can give just pm me :thumb
To save trouble I an do unpainted I'm sure I find or mix paints close enough to match the figure.

Unfortunately, I've had to mix colours for both helmets, so I can't point you to a single colour, I'm afraid. If I remember correctly it was a mix between a light grey, neutral grey and yellow. The Purple head was predominantly a mixture of violet and fluro magenta.

I'm sure I can do you a deal on an unpainted set Trence.

I went full repaint. I still gotta make a custom clear Decepticon insignia, maybe the cartoon version with the 3 tipped crown. I painted the arm threads and still drying. 20211130_150338.jpg 20211130_150033.jpg 20211130_150004.jpg

Looks perfect. Did you take anything apart for painting or did you just paint it, as it was?

My wife is working at home so I can't hammer the pins out. It was a painstaking masking process. I used Tamiya spray paint.
