Well a week in and I’m getting some paint chipping on the smokestacks. One spot is on the top the left smokestack. That could be due to me transforming it and clashing on parts.

There is a spot in the middle of the right smokestack that is clearly a paint mix issue due to the fact that it does really rub against anything there.

Everywhere else is fine and that includes the Helmet antennas.

 

Got mine yesterday. I like him but not sure I love him. That transformation first time around had me a little stressed with worrying about paint rub on the chest. I'm sure I'll end up loving it eventually (I felt the same about Galvatron and love that transformation now).

Throughout the thread I have seen people comment on paint wear on the smokestacks and other areas. I've never had this issue before with NA bots. How widespread is it and what are all the wear areas? I'd like to clear coat them for future safety.

I finally opened him today. I have to say, the shoulder forearms don't bother me at all. Unless I am looking at him from a bird's eye view, they aren't all that noticeable.

Here he is with MechFansToys City Commander, and then with MechFansToys Hot Rod and DX9 Leah and Toufold. I think MFT Hot Rod works well as a Legends scale Rodimus.

Magic square is definitely overcompensating with that rifle.

 

I suspect they made it that big just so it would fill out and fit in the top of the trailer.

Got my Delta Magnus in hand today and wow, he is streets ahead of Ultra Magnus. Even setting aside the issues that were largely unique to my copy of UM (chipping paint, missing smokestacks), Delta's deco really pops, and the tolerances on the core bot are a lot tighter, the torso doesn't flop around at all while you're transforming it, unlike UM.

Has anyone tried painting the alternate face for Delta so far? I'm tempted to have a go at it, the translucent look isn't doing it for me.

 

If I end up with a copy of Delta, I'll absolutely paint the face. Definitely haven't done it yet though.

 

Just got this guy last night and although I got the MS Prime, I think I like the Magnus version of prime more than the actual optimus mold! The head lights aren’t painted, so they are much less noticeable, but I think I would be bothered if they were. My roommate is getting the NA Optimus mold so I’m excited to see how they compare.

 

I got this and like him, transformation into robot mode wasn't as fiddly as I feared. Torso hinch on core magnus is annoying though.

 

Fantastic. Not 100% perfect as the white paint apps seem a bit too thick. I know white paint is notoriously tricky so I can see where some people are having issues.

The double chest is barely noticeable in hand. The armored up mode is awesome. The hands from the top do look a little strange. I respect the commitment to having no extra parts but it would look much better with something to cover them.

Still, personally Magnus is my favorite character so 10/10 but a fairer score would be 8/10. The positives outweigh the flaws.

 

The Delta Magnus version is an absolute work of art. Thank god, because he sure cost enough.

Good to see NA back to peak form with this release. I wasn’t really happy with their last couple of releases.

I just received my NA Magnus from Show Z, who seems to have gotten a later batch perhaps. I’ve got no issues with paint yet. I have been careful around problem areas, but right out of the box everything looks fine. Some very light scuffing where the crotch plate was touching the trailer while packed in the box and jostling around during shipment, but no where near what I’ve seen in this thread.

 

I got my Delta Magnus today. I can say that this design in general is about as good as an armor Magnus design can get. All three modes are great. The Delta deco is also pretty great. Couldn't be happier.

 

I'm very surprised how the double chest is no problem at all in hand. Photos exaggerate the problem a huge amount.

 

I think the double chest stands out quite a bit in hand, at least in the white Magnus I have. Same with the unfinished look of the upper body sides. I’m sure it’d be better with a darker bot though.
