Something with plot, story, character development, and dialogue that exceeds a 6th-grade level of intellect and emotional maturity would be a good start. Decent acting would be nice. Basically, spending money on something other than CGI special effects.

i was gonna say at least the bayverse doesn't endorse pedophilia but betwen megan fox's "audition," the entire romeo and juliet scene in AOE, and hollywood stars' general leaning towards creepiness, i'm sure both options are equally gross.

 

I have to go with Bay-Verse. I just can't bring myself to say KISS Players. I will admit that KISS Players did have some good Transformer figures and I do like the concept of the Auto-Trooper. But with the box art, the girl figurines, and the whole story behind KISS Players, I didn't want any of it in my collection (especially since I was still a MISB collector at this time). I'm just thankful that Hasbro released Alternator Rodimus over here without the KISS Player baggage. Just too bad they didn't do the same with Auto-Trooper in the Alternator line. Bay-verse was no picnic but I don't feel dirty buying Bay-Verse figures vs. KISS Player items. (and that is just my personal regarding myself and my collection alone.)

 

I don’t honestly find much of the TF media worth watching/reading. It’s the toys that genuinely pique my interest, and the robots of KP are good. I would readily buy updated KP/Binaltech figures, toss the anime girl figurines in the garbage, and keep my conscience clean. Even if I ignore the BV media, the toys don’t appeal to me at all. There’s just not any element of that universe that I find palatable.

So, as a toy-leaning fan, I could get some mileage out of new KP/Alternator/Binaltech figures, but Bayverse is a wasted effort on me.

 

I don't know what sane human being would pick reviving Kiss Players over the Bay films other than to troll. Even if you're the biggest Bay hater, as creepy as Bay can get(Romeo and Juliet scene anyone?), they still pale in comparison to what Kiss Players has done, which is just creepy by concept. At the very least I can still see value in keeping the Bay universe around(heck I actually want to see what kind of monstrosity can come out of Bay Unicron), on the other hand, the world would benefit immensely if Kiss Players ceased to exist and people had their minds wiped about it

 

Isn't transformers the franchise that lacks quality since 2013...

 

As one of the persons who did and explained why, I can only say this: if you wonder why then perhaps read the thread? Because most who posted in favour of KP did explain they did so for a specific reason.

And that reason for many were the toys. Because KP containted three beautiful repaints of Alternators, and some alternate G1 deco's.

 

I am genuinely concerned for anyone who voted for Kiss Players. You're chosing pedophilia over mediocre movies. Jesus fucking Christ.

Most have qualified their statements, so either you’re only reading the headlines, or else you’re willfully ignorant. I don’t think anyone is arguing in favor of the context of KP. It’s a sick manipulation of some otherwise cool character designs. Ditch the perverted storyline, and there are some cool elements to it that update G1 and add some new ideas. Ditch the inane storyline of Bayverse, however, and you’ve got… mechanical zombies.

I’m basically arguing in favor of Binaltech/Alternators and against Bayverse purely on design aesthetics. Both stories are terrible. KP uses G1 as a vehicle for a twisted and morally intolerable premise, while Bayverse is just mindless drivel that mines G1 history only to exploit, corrupt, and profit from it. Neither as an entertainment medium are worthy, but one could create some cool toys.

 

At least the Bay movies gave us some of the funniest reviews I’ve seen. That alone is worth it.

Pretty sad for a piece of media when the most enjoyment you get out of it is watching reviewers ripping it a new one. Not that I mind though, I love listening to Youtubers badmouth shit movies or series for ten minutes or even an hour while I do something else.

 

Gotta find the positives where you can, right?!
